Lot 159
Two Victorian rosewood boxes containing drawing instruments CONDITION REPORTS Smaller drawing kit box is cracked on the top. Missing brass cartouche and escutcheon. Has a large bruise approximately 4 cm to left hand side. The instruments themselves appear to be a made up set. Both ivory handled instruments have bits missing from the finials and one has a split. Most instruments have elements of rusting/pitting to them. Has general wear conducive with age and use to include scuffs, scratches etc. Second (larger) set - two horizontal lines of brass inlay are missing. There is a crack to the bottom left hand corner. The varnish appears to have bubbled on one side. Has general wear conducive of age and use. Inside appears to have been refurbished and also missing brass escutcheon. The instruments themselves appear to be tarnished. Have some pitting. Otherwise have general wear conducive with age and use. See images for more details.

A Meiji period Japanese carved ivory okimono of an elderly gentleman carrying a stick and basket and wearing leaf covered clothes, bears signature to base CONDITION REPORTS Overall with wear, dirt and some discolouration and yellowing, figure broken across ankles/feet and has been re-glued, some small age cracks to ivory for example to the basket, some glue deposits to one ear so possibly a section of ear has broken and be re-attached. Height approx. 13 cm.
