A tortoiseshell and ivory tea caddy, initialled, 19 cm wide Condition report Report by GHLacking two of its turned feet. Tortoiseshell on the top lifting on both sides, and various other pieces lifting. No obvious major losses though. Generally dirty and in need of a clean and renovation. internally both compartments with remnants of their original foil linings. Various small cracks to the ivory surrounding the underside of the lid and where it meets the main body of the box. Generally in original, unmolested saleroom fresh condition.
A Japanese ivory shibayama type netsuke, in the form of a caparisoned elephant, carved a dragon and flowers, set pearls and coloured stones, the base with a mother of pearl signature tablet, 3.5 cm high See illustration Condition report Report by NGElephant: some cracks in netsuke, largest through elephant's left ear, this is almost finger nail depth wide. Some losses to applied beadwork decoration, and blue residue to back of elephant where some beads have been replaced. Other cracks visible around base.
A George III naval officer's sword, with a carved ivory handle, lion head pommel, and steel scabbard See illustration Condition report Report by RBThe blade has traces of watered style decoration, unmarked, the brass guard at one end of pommel are worn and rubbed, the ivory is cracked, which should be quite visible from the illustrations, with a small chip repaired just beneath the lion head mouth, the scabbard has two rings and has traces of old light surface rust.Having had another look at the sword, it is possible it is not naval, it is reasonably light weight and may be not so strong for close quarter combat, but may be rather more cavalry based.There are no naval symbols.The scabbard is a good tight fit, this combined with it going in and out of the scabbard with its curve, would indicate the original scabbard.The blade is 68.5 cm, the sword 80 cm, the sword and scabbard 82 cm.

Arrow feathers and side of quiver broken, reglued and with small part lacking. Hairline crack to base. Other stained natural cracks overall. Signature panel to underside.

A Japanese ivory group of figures, Meiji period, including a wood cutter and a wine merchant, together with an ivorine elephant and polar bearOkimono appears to be composite and possibly not complete. The wood cutter and boy appear to go together but the bundle of faggots which appears to attach to the base is a different colour of ivory. The various components are loose. The boy has a damaged heel. The wine merchant does not appear to be associated with this group. He has a reglued left leg. There is further axe which does not appear to match either of these items. The two further items comprising a bear and elephant are in good condition.
