A VICTORIAN PAPIER MACHE TEA CADDY, of rectangular form, the hinged cover with painted and mother of pearl inlaid church decoration, the sides decorated with flowers, two compartments with one lacking knop, on a shaped base, width 21cm x depth 15cm x 12.5cm, in need of restoration, together with a Victorian papier mache writing slope with mother of pearl inlay, gilt decoration to interior, some repairs, width 36.5cm x depth 27cm and a George III rosewood tea caddy of plain rectangular form, the interior fitted with two compartments and central clear glass mixing bowl, width 30cm x depth 15cm x height 15cm (3) (condition: papier mache caddy has a hinge missing and ivory knop finial missing, some wear and chips, the papier mache writing slope has some restorations, the rosewood caddy is not closing flush and the upper edge is warped, some splits in outer case)
A silver mounted evening purse, with engine turned decoration, finger hoop, leather lined with divisions, Chester 1916, 166.01g, together with a floral carved ivory brooch, a bracelet with mother of pearl cameos depicting Roman gods, rub set to rectangular collets, a silver mother of pearl handled fruit knife, Sheffield 1916, a silver niello foliate brooch, and a quantity of costume jewellery to include a pressed amber pendant suspended from gilt metal chain, bracelets, brooches, cufflinks, necklaces etc.
A 1796 style light cavalry officer's sword, broad shallow fullered blade with hatchet point, 32½", marked "J.J. Runkel, Solingen" on backstrap, etched blued and gilt for half length with pre 1801 Royal Arms, supporters and motto on one side and crowned GR cypher on the other, with florets and other devices, gilt brass stirrup hilt, the crossguard with quillon and langets, the outer langet bearing a silver plated grenade, facetted knucklebow with ring at the top, lion's head pommel and plain backstrap, chequered ivory grip (cracked), in its black leather scabbard, panelled on the outer side, and with gilt locket, middle band and chape, 2 rings, sword cutler's name "Archer, Dublin" on locket. Good Condition, the blade retaining approx 50% blueing and gilding, the hilt and scabbard mounts approx 70% gilt (some pitting stains to blade, extreme tip broken) Plate 18
A mid 19th century Dutch silver octagonal pill box, hallmarked 1864 for .833 silver, together with a white metal twin handled pin tray, a silver London Rifle Brigade finial teaspoon, assayed Sheffield 1930, a Chinese carved ivory needle case and a letter opener, with white metal handle fashioned as a horses head and ivorine blade. Henry Daniel Thielcke (1787-1874), a portrait miniature of HRH Princess Charlotte Augusta of Wales (1796-1817), seated before a red curtain and landscape background, wearing a blue dress with lace bonnet, watercolour on ivory, signed, titled and dated 1818 to arm of chair, image 10.2cm x 7.5cm, under glass framed by ormolu frame surmounted by crown to ebony.
Shooting Interest: A scarce late Victorian combined silver flask and butt marker holder, by James Samuel Bell & Louis Willmott, assayed London 1900, the rectangular flask curved to fit pocket, with screw lock cap and engraved to front with a gentleman taking his shot with retriever in pursuit of game, the back with hinged compartment opening to reveal six numbered ivory markers, height 10.8cm. (gross weight 110.7g)
