Label verso states that it has been produced by an NGO community of about 200 desert weavers under the label of Urmul Marusthali Bunkar Vikas Samiti. (5)

Rich,. earthy-red shield shape field filled with flowerheads and many filler ornaments, around two ivory vases; blue speckled columns to each side and dark blue floral panels each end; dark brown floral main border and ivory floral guards. Lustrous wool and rich palette.

Yomut Turkmen 4 x 4 gul chuval, Turkmenistan, early 20th century, 2ft. 2in. X 4ft. 0.66m. x 1.22m. The guls divided by colourful chemche motifs within a narrow ivory medallion main border and running dog guards;plain deep chestnut brown lower elem; narrow tuning fork stripe to top edge above two bird's feet motifs; undyed plain-weave back. Velvety wool in a rich palette with dark green and pale blue details.
Two Turkmen weavings: the first: Yomut Turkmen asmalyk, Eagle Group 2, Turkmenistan, 19th century, 2ft. 4in. X 4ft. 0.71m. X 1.22m. Overall even wear; lacking long fringing to lower end. Cf. Reuben, D. Gols and Guls, pl. 80 for a remarkably similar asmalyk but with its tiered fringing. The second: Kizil Ayak jollar, Turkmenistan, late 19th/early 20th century, 1ft. 5in. X 4ft. 5in. 0.43m. x 1.35m. Long woollen fringing to lower end. Three central diamond shape medallions with ivory half medallions either side. (2)
Chondzoresk rug, Karabagh region, south west Caucasus, late 19th/early 20th century, 8ft. 8in. X 5ft. 2.64m. X 1.52m. Overall even wear; slight colour run in places; some repairs/repiling; few crease marks and losses to ends. The dark red field with two large typical medallions in dark blue and dark bluey/green; scattered filler ornaments including an animal in each top corner and two animals in each lower corner; ivory leaf and calyx main border.
Good Veramin rug, north west Persia, late 19th century, 6ft. 5in. X 4ft. 6in. 1.96m. X 1.37m. Overall even wear with slight loss to lower end; fabric tape to top end.. Red plain weave skirt at top end. Dark blue field with a myriad of medallions in a glorious palette with random small peacocks and other small birds taking refuge among the ornaments; wide light red main border of large flowerheads and boteh within ivory scrolling floral guards. Lustrous wool, rich palette and soft handle.

Overall wear, slightly heavier in some places; corrosion to browns; small repairs and small areas of old moth damage. A very pretty carpet; the indigo and pale blue centre medallion with an inner circle of flowerheads with 'face mask' centres, on a pale camel cartouche shape field with four of the large blue flowerheads with 'face-mask' centres; ivory spandrels; indigo main border and pale blue guards within a pale red outer band woven with occasional beige 'marker' stripes. Lustrous close clipped velvety wool.

Superb Akstafa long rug, Kazak area, south west Caucasus, late 19th century, 9ft. 7in. X 3ft. 8in. 2.92m. X 1.12m. Overall even wear. Four large medallions on a dark blue field alternating with pairs of large 'Akstafa' birds and many other filler ornaments including animals; small birds and flowerheads; the ivory main border of hooked medallions, some with striped animals within. Tabriz prayer rug of tree of life design, north west Persia, circa 1920s-30s, 6ft. X 4ft. 5in. 1.83m. X 1.35m. Overall even wear with some corrosion; replacement fringing to both ends. Ivory field with a tree at the base, the six branches framing the field and scrolling together at the top of the mihrab; the prayer niche filled with many flowers and foliage; the earthy terracotta spandrels at the top each with a cartouche of a bird; light terracotta floral main border. Close clipped velvety wool and soft palette.
