Yang Di Pertuan Agong - Heinrich Luebke dating: 20th Century provenance: Malaysia Beautiful kris with solid gold and ivory mounts, donated by the fourth Yang Di Pertuan Agong (king of Malaysia) Ismail Nasiruddin of Terengganu (1965-1970) to Heinrich Lübke, President of the Federal Republic of Germany (West Germany) (1959-1969). Straight blade with double, undulated edge, with slightly chiselled base, gold-plated ganja, ivory grip carved in Garuda style with gold mounts, partially pierced selut and mendak in gold; ivory wrangka and gandar, wrangka with a frame of gold foil, on the lower parts the royal coat of arms of Malaysia, in gold too, finely engraved and pierced, on the back a big plaque in gold featuring the inscription "PRESENTED TO Dr. h. c. Heinrich Lübke PRESIDENT OT THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF GERMANY BY H. M. The Yang Di - Pertuan Agong MALAYSIA"; solid gold pendok finely embossed with floral motifs. In its presentation, wooden case with orange velvet lining and blue velvet cushion, on the cover the royal coat of arms of Malaysia in gold, inside the cover a picture of Ismail Nasiruddin and Heinrich Lübke, the President of West Germany, together with their wives after landing in Kuala Lumpur. On the border the label "P. H. HENDRY ROYAL JEWELLER KUALA LUMPUR & SINGAPORE". Together with this beautiful gift, another kris, much simpler, donated to the President's wife. The king used to donate to the wives of the heads of state a "simple" kris which represented an emblem of this traditional weapon. The undulated blade is decorated with a gilt dragon, the ivory grip richly carved, with gilt metallic selut and mendak enriched with coloured stones (a parts missing), ivory wrangka, the plate on the back is now missing, silver mendok finely embossed with animals and floral motifs. At the end of his mandate as President of West Germany, Lübke donated this two kris to his butler (on his side in the picture). dimensions: length 40.5 - 46 cm.

A rare dagger commemorating the kings of France Henry III and Charles IX dating: circa 1800 provenance: France Simple, straight, double-edged blade of lozenge section; ivory hilt finely chiselled with floral motifs, wooden grip with velvet covering (worn); scabbard in two pieces, the front one made of ivory, divided in three sections, the upper one finely carved with the effigy of king Henry III (kingdom 1574-1589) and king Charles IX (kingdom 1560-1574), who also was king of Poland (1573-1574); between them the crowned, French coat of arms depicting the lilies; at the centre the effigy of an angel and two gooses between floral bands; the lower part, corresponding to the chape with a mask; the back surface made of wood covered with velvet. dimensions: length 44 cm.

A yatagan with rare mounts dating: 19th Century provenance: Turkey Slightly curved, single-edged blade, grooved, with chiselled back and undulated raiser, on a side a series of silver-inlaid cartouches, featuring floral decorations and inscriptions in Arabic characters, on the other cartouches with spirals and floral motifs, in silver. Silver ring-nut with nielloed, floral engravings with nielloed circles on the ground. Grip (small restorations) with seven cabochon corals alternated with beads of coloured stones; walrus ivory grip scales. Wooden scabbard with black leather covering, long metallic chape decorated with nielloed floral motifs and circles on the ground, with racemes, flowers, animals and a double-headed eagle on both sides; the leather part with bars (one with a part missing); cap with crescent and eight-point star, racemes, on both faces the effigy of a knight with lance. The scabbard is provided with a device to block the yatagan, held by chains. dimensions: length 74,3 cm.
A gilt kindjal dating: 19th Century provenance: Caucasia Straight, double-edged, damask blade, ribbed at the centre and provided with deep, asymmetrical fullers; the front face of the blade entirely gold-inlaid with spirals and floral motifs, frames and three cartouches featuring inscriptions in Arabic; grip with grip scales, the front one of walrus ivory and the rear one of dark horn; two studs with rosette, one drop-shaped mount; remains of gilding. Fretted (gebunden) clavichord by Hieronymus Hass, Hamburg, 1740, the exterior with later pale green paintwork, the interior and the keyboard surround painted red, also later, the lid interior painted with a horseman in an extensive landscape with a man and child to the left and a recumbent traveller to the right with two swans, the soundboard painted with various flowers, the keyboard, compass four octaves and two notes, CC to d3, with ivory naturals with red-painted facings and ebony-overlaid accidentals, with octave stringing in the bass up to D, an accessory compartment to the left of the keyboard with veneered lid, with later framed stand and stool both with cabriole legs painted en suite, inscribed on the soundboard Hieronÿ Alb Hass In Hamb Anno 1740, also a small silver plaque on the left wrestplank inscribed Restorat 1969 af Instrumentmeger Hans Holm Stagelse, length 5ft 1?in, 156.5cm., width1ft 5?in, 43.6cm *Recorded in Makers of the Harpsichord and Clavichord, 1440-1840 by Donald Boalch (Charles Mould), p.36. Sold with a report by Dr. Lance Whitehead and a provenance of the instrument since 1958 compiled by the vendor. The instrument resided at the Soro Akademi, Soro, Denmark for many years prior to 1958 and is also sold with a copy of the school booklet written by Lars Kelstrup entitled Soro Akademi, Bygingernes Historie, published in 2005.
