A Dutch Oyster-Veneered Walnut, Ivory, Ebony and marquetry cabinet-on-stand, the rectangular moulded cornice above a pair of doors inlaid with geometric patterns of stars and circles and seaweed marquetry within chequer-banding, enclosing three shelves and inlaid with a star to the reverse of the doors, the lower section with further oyster-veneered and chequer banding above three frieze drawers flanked by marquetry panels, on ring-turned faceted tapering legs joined by a stretcher and on bun feet, restorations, adapted. H.211 W.175 D.56cm The parquetry pattern on the doors of this cabinet relates to a late 17th century cabinet in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (J.van Herck, Il Mobile Fiammingo, Milan, 1972, p.93, fig 99), and although lacking the seaweed marquetry, shares much in common with a cabinet from the collection of Peter Morris, Esq., Yester House, sold Sotheby's London, 14th December 1973, lot 162.Provenance: Christie's, 30th October, 1997
A Japanese Meiji period patinated bronze model of a tiger, three character mark to the underside, along with a similar figure of an elephant with an ivory tusk. Tiger 22cm long. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Tiger free from any damage or notable wear. Elephant missing one tusk, no other flaws.
A Victorian tortoiseshell tea caddie of sarcophagus form and with brass lion mask handles and ivory fillets. With two lidded compartments and having flat cut glass mixing bowl, 34cm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Some loss to the ivory. Triangle of tortoiseshell veneer missing from the right side. Mixing bowl in good order. No key.
A George V silver muffin dish, cover and liner by G. Bryan & Co. With turned ivory finial and cast rim adorned with flower sprays. Assayed Birmingham 1935. Gross weight 510 grams, 18cm wide. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Small crease on the rim of the base, could be mended, the silver is of a very good gauge. No splits or solder repairs. Hallmarks clear. No presentation inscriptions.
Two Colt .41 calibre rim fire Derringer pocket pistols. Each with nickel plated frame, one with carved ivory scales and the other of hardwood. Each frame stamped Colt to the barrel and 41 Cal to the frame. Barrels 6.5cm long, overall 12.5cm. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Ivory scaled pistol with good action. Barrel pitted some other marks to the outer metal. The other pistols trigger and spring are seperate, barrel pitted, heavier outer metal wear.
Two pairs of early 20th century French lacquered brass opera glasses with enamelled grips, one pair in a leather case. Each with ground colours, jeweled and painted with flowers. The cased pair with ivory mounts and the other with mother of pearl. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Adjusters working. Lenses in good order. Cased pair with a crack across one grip at the object lens end. The other pair with a minimal amount of jewels lacking.
