A VICTORIAN TORTOISESHELL TEA CADDY, with double cavetto front and domed lid outlined with wire stringing, the divided interior with a pair of covers, on vegetable ivory feet, 13cm h, 19.5cm w ++The lid detached but the hinges complete. One or two minor old knocks, chips and a crack in the back but a good example of fine, well coloured shell. The gilded copper finial an old replacement. One of the four feet an old stained wooden replacement.

Note: The table bears a label beneath stating the following 'Table made in Ceylon for the Hon.ble. Gerald Chetwynd Talbot (grandfather of Charles He ... Chetwynd Talbot). This is the exact replica of the table at Windsor Castle'. Hon. Gerald Chetwynd-Talbot (1819-1885) was Private Secretary to the Governor General of India 1856.
