A George V silver teapot of bellied form with stylised acanthus decoration to lid and spout with large ivory handles and finials and a matching hot water jug bears lion mask armorial to belly of both (London, 1932 by Edward Barnard & Sons) 61 oz total weight CONDITION REPORTS The tea pot itself is in basicly in sound condition but with some surface srcatching through out and has a small dent to one side. The handle has cracking through out, the final is cracked in half and has other cracking through out, the main break repaired. Handle feels a little loose though both pins extent. The water jug, is in similar condition through out with small dent to the right rear side x2 and deeper dent to the side of the handle, the handle has bottom fixing pin missing. A good pair of French or Belgian-made percussion pocket pistolscirca 1830-50with boxlock-type frames featuring nice quality foliage engraving, each with a rear sight, the 10mm rifled barrels made of damask and worked as columns, featuring ivory grips with cross-hatched buttplates and folding triggers, with 'ELG' Liege inspection proof mark, numbered '3573' and '5573' respectively, barrel length 5.5cm, overall length 15cm (2) (actions a.f)Condition report: Both actions are currently non-working. Example numbered 3573 with trigger currently stuck in an open position and a screw to the underside of the frame is only able to be partially inserted due to a crack horizontally to the frame. The companion pistol's action has a trigger that releases when the hammer is pulled, but will not hold at full cock.Both pistols have some areas of rust spots. The pistol with the loose screw also has an ivory grip that is lifting from the frame and some minor scratches/knocks to the ivory. The second pistol has a small crack to the ivory on either side of the grip (near the frame) and some scratches/scuffs to the ivory alongside and some slight jiggle to the buttplate.

International lawyer Arthur Jaffé was an eminent scholar and collector of miniature paintings. He was an authority on John Smart, and spent many years researching the miniaturist, with the intention of writing a catalogue raisonné of the artist’s works. Although he died before the task could be completed, the body of work he had produced formed the basis of Daphne Foskett’s book, John Smart. The Man and his Miniatures, published in 1964. Painter of royalty and the aristocracy, Horace was the son of the Irish artist and miniaturist Nathaniel Hone. He was taught by his father before entering the Royal Academy Schools in 1770, exhibiting his work there between 1772 and 1822. In 1782 Hone moved to Dublin where he had a successful studio, and in 1795 was appoionted miniature painter to the Prince of Wales. However, his career was badly affected by the 1800 Act of Union which resulted in many of his fashionable patrons moving to London. He himself returned to London in 1804, but thereafter struggled financially and suffered from mental instability.
