A round miniature ivory slip probably for a porcelain medal painted by the Swansea and Nantgarw entrepreneur and one time decorator William Weston Young, with druids in a grove regarding an infant in a hollow tree-trunk, 5cm diameter; and an accompanying booklet from The National Museum of Wales. Cf. The Picture Book of Welsh Porcelain, (The National Museum of Wales, Cardiff 1951), p. 28 for a similar example.
Harold Stabler (1872-1945) for Adie Bros., an Art Deco silver rectangular three piece tea service, Birmingham 1936, the tea pot with an ivory semi-circle finial and a bakelite rectangular handle, on block feet, the tea pot 20cm (7.75in) long, 882g (28.35 oz) gross. A four piece service of 1935 is in the V & A Museum, no. M.291B-1976.
A late 19thC/early 20thC brass sextant, with inset ivory scale, and signed W R Williams Newport, in fitted mahogany case with accessories, the case with replacement label for Wilson and Gillie, Bruce and Sons Ltd, Cardiff, Auctioneer`s note this lot together with facsimile copies of a letter of introduction from the the Boston Deep Sea Fishing and Ice Company Ltd circa 1912, another letter of introduction from H M Maplebase Great Yarmouth circa 1919 and a photocopied photograph of Mr John Borton the owner of the sextant at this time.
A late 19thC Anglo Indian tortoiseshell and ivory games box, the slightly doomed hinged lid and sides with pierced and carved ivory overlay decorated with floral scrolls and with a crest to the lid "amor batriae", on four low claw feet, the interior with sandalwood lining fitted for cards and markers and with a folding tortoiseshell and ivory cribbage board.
