WALTER, LONDON, with maker’s plate inscribed WALTER : LONDON, the ebony frame with ivory scale divided to 95° and Ramsden’s foul-anchor dividing mark to centre, braced lacquered-brass index arm and fittings including pin-hole sight, interchangeable shades and mirrors, turned pencil head in ‘T’ bar, note plaque to reverse and pin feet, contained within stepped keystone case with trade label for J. W. Norie & Co., lock and brass escutcheon -- 15in. (38cm.) wide

RADIUS VERNIER EBONY AND IVORY OCTANT BY SYEDS, ROTHERHITHE, with -shaped ebony frame, inset ivory scale divided to 105º, signed on the crossbar SYEDS 379 ROTHERHITHE , pin-hole/telescope sight, index mirror, seven shades, rosewood handle, contained in fitted wooden keystone case; together with letter of provenance from Port of London Authority dated 1933 -- 14 x 13in. (35.5 x 33cm.); together with a similar, but incomplete, example by Norie, London, contained within a distressed wooden stepped keystone case, (2), Agnes Syeds worked from 1834-1853 from this address, having taken over the business from her late husband in 1834.

GABLE CLARK: (1901-1960) American Actor, Academy Award winner. D.S., Clark Gable, being a signed cheque, California, 11th June 1951. The cheque, drawn on the Security-First National Bank of Los Angeles, is made payable to Slocum's Van and Storage Company for the sum of $7.50. Gable's signature is totally unaffected by any bank cancellations. Matted in ivory beneath a reproduction photograph of Gable in a head and shoulders pose in costume as Rhett Butler from Gone With The Wind. 12 x 16 overall. EX

A 19th Century Indo Colonial amboyna wood, coromandel and inlaid secretaire cabinet in two parts, bordered with ivory lines, the upper part with shaped and carved cresting decorated with floral foliate sprays, flowerheads and paterae centred by a shell, the interior with adjustable shelves enclosed by a pair of moulded panel doors, the lower part having a hinged fall enclosing a fitted interior with small drawers and pigeon holes about a central enclosed cupboard, containing three long drawers below with recessed brass handles, having brass carrying handles to the sides, on lions hair claw feet, 99cm (3ft 3in) wide, 186cm (6ft 1 1/4in) high.
