The larger flat back jug with some general rubbing to gilding here and there throughout. The coffee can with some crazing and also the saucer. The Imari dishes with light rubbing to the gilding on both and one with a glue repaired break to the handle. Other items with general age wear.
A 19th century Ceylonese brassbound coromandel wood work box, the interior with nine lidded compartments with tortoiseshell inlay, two open compartments and four further compartments, all in one tray which can be lifted out, height 12cm, width 35cm, depth 26cm.Additional InformationThe lid is detached, attention is needed to the lid where they join to the hinge, the lid with some opening at the joints of the timber and with three small splits at the edge and a small chip, internally lightly grubby with some lifting to the tortoiseshell veneer, general wear around the edge of the tray, the two back corner sections are missing a bone or ivory insert and the back left one is lacking half of the tortoiseshell inlay, the tortoiseshell inlay to the front left box is all lacking, box with general age wear, scuffs and watermarks throughout, a couple of small losses here and there, despite condition overall appearance fair.

Later, in 1821-23, he was positioned in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Given Napier's extensive service in eastern Canada and North America, the scene depicted is likely to have been observed first-hand.
