A West Africa poncho Ivory Coast / Nigeria tapa with black leopard spots painted to the front and back, early 20th century, 89cm high, 42cm wide. This poncho is thought to have belonged to the Leopard Society. An all male secret cult that practised cannibalism and ravaged Western Africa from the 1870's to the early 20th century.
λThree Inuit harpoon heads Alaska, 19th century Including a walrus ivory zoomorphic type, finely modelled and engraved with a brass point and leather attachment, the end with an inventory number 2271.26, 6,9cm long, another walrus ivory with an iron point and a leather attachment, 12cm long, and an antler arrow foreshaft with a copper point, 25.7cm long. λThree Inuit implements Alaska, 19th century walrus ivory, including two ice picks, one pierced and with a tenon end, 38.6cm and the other with a faceted end with incised lines, 42.7cm long, and a bow drill, one side incised a figure next to a large net, one end with an inventory number 1282, 44.3cm long. (3) Provenance A private collection, Canada. The ice picks were attached to the butt end of harpoons and used for breaking the ice around a seal hunting hole.
