Williamson and H. L. D. Engleheart, George Engelheart 1750-1829 Miniature Painter George III p 103. Fee book lists a pair of portraits painted for Mr and Mrs Lambert in 1785. Jane Lambert was the daughter of Mr Robert LeGrand and Elizabeth Curling of Guilton Kent. She married William Lambert (1761 -1838 of Shortes Place Woodmansterne Surrey c. 1785, they had three children William b. 1788, Jane Elizabeth b.1789 and Lt John Lambert RN. b. 1790. Her obituary published in the Gentleman's Magazine November 1791 p. 1065 states 'At Woodmansterne, Co. Surrey, of a consumption, in her 29th year of her age, leaving three children, Mrs Lambert, the lady of William L. Esq. She was the daughter Robert Le Grand, esq of Guilton, in Kent. Her personal beauty was so great, that for many years she was the unrivalled toast of the county of Kent, and after her marriage she was the pattern of everything that is excellant and praiseworthy in the mother, the wife, or the friend'

A rare early 18th century miniature of probably George II and Queen Caroline with an accompanying set of seven talc overlays Standing arm in arm the gentleman wearing red knee breeches, stockings a frilled chemise and full bottomed wig; the lady a blue mantua gown and a crown, her hair short with curls. watercolour on paper. Each 'talc' transparent mica sliver overlay painted with different costume details in opaque colour, housed in a circular ivory box, the screw fitting cover lined with a watercolour on paper of a gentleman in a landscape accompanied by a seated female figure playing an instrument. 4cm diameter Provenance the Lambert family of Woodmansterne, Surrey and thence by descent.

Large meat plate - large areas of crazing, 2 small chips to rim, otherwise OK. 12 smallest plates - all crazed and loss to decoration, small chip to one plate. Small oval plate - crazing and with loss to decoration, otherwise OK. Small tureen, ladle and plate - chip to rim of lid, bowl with hairline crack to base, ladle chipped to underside of bowl, all items crazed. Second small tureen, ladle and plate - lid with hairline crack, ladle with crack around handle - possibly broken off, all items crazed. Tureen - crazed but otherwise good. Second tureen - handle missing from lid, small chip/firing fault beneath lid, crazed, losses to decoration. Small bowl - crazed and with light losses to decoration, otherwise OK. 12 smaller and 12 larger plates - general pitting, scratches, crazing and losses to decoration, some firing faults and small chips.
A Japanese Meiji period carved ivory okimono in the form of a man with a basket on his back; together with a carved ivory netsuke; and one other okimono (a/f) Condition Report / Extra Information Okimono - height 12cm, base width 5.5cm, small tablet space where signature may once have been, cracks to both feet, legs, head, basket and object in hand. Shishi dog netsuke - with signature, small scratches, otherwise good. Other Okimono - a/f, no apparent signature.
