A Chinese ivory and paper painted fan 19th Century The guards worked with typical Canton style village scenes, the sticks of brise type with similar decoration, the paper fan finely painted with decoupage detail with figures in palace interiors and gardens. 28cm Guards and sticks appear fair to good with some signs of age and use. Paper has wear to the hinges throughout with some slight tearing at the top in places.
A Chinese ivory and embroidered silk fan 19th Century The guards worked in relief with typical Canton style village scenes, the baluster-shape sticks unworked, the fan worked in coloured threads with fanciful birds in flowering branches against a magnolia ground. 33cm Guards and sticks show minor/negligible signs of age. Fan fabric worn at the joint with the sticks and with some light staining/grubbiness in places.
