Overall even wear with corrosion to dark brown in places; small repairs and re-piling; hole to top left ivory spandrel; outer guard missing and the rug has been re-selvedged on all edges and mounted on green cloth. Terracotta mihrab with stylized feathery tree of life forms; ivory main border of flowerheads and various small motifs; inner dark brown frame of tree motifs; outer border of flowerheads and boteh motifs. Beautiful drawing in a lovely harmonious palette. cf. Zipper & Fritzsche, op. cit. pp. 63 & 64, pl. 63 & 64 - dated to the late 18th century and 18th/19th century respectively.
