A very finely carved, 19th century Japanese ivory netsuke of a father and child, signed. The father is holding onto the child with one hand and holds a den den daiko in the other, in traditional clothing with body length plait of hair running down his back. The child is in traditional layered clothing with floral detail to coat. Over the body cloth bag and hat. Approx. 5cm tall x 3cm across.
3 long handled pipes. An antique ivory smoking pipe with silver collars and panel to top of bowl. Base of bowl is hinged and has a release button at the back of the pipe to open the bottom of the bowl. Silver collars have French boars head mark. Panel to bowl has engraved decoration. Together with white metal oriental style highly decorated long handled smoking pipe with amber coloured mouthpiece, a/f and a white metal long handled pipe with hinged bowl to end with small vent holes. Ivory pipe approx. 28cm long. White netal pipe approx. 34cm long.
A 19th century Japanese ivory netsuke of an Oni capturing Shoki the demon queller's sword. Very finely carved. Oni is dressed in a loincloth sitting on top of a basket which shows the sword tip piercing through. The underneath shows Shoki's sword on an embroidered pillow. Exceptional detail throughout. Small nick to every edge of basket. Approx. 3cm tall x 4cm wide.

A MIXED LOT:- A late 19th century mounted block of tropical (Caribbean) hardwood with the inscription "Barbados 10Sept, 1898"*, two pairs of George III sugar tongs (one pair crested), a George III gold-mounted ivory toothpick box and an early 18th century oval box with inlaid tortoiseshell & mother of pearl cover, unmarked 1725-35; the latter 2.75" (7 cms) long *Commemorating the date when a devastating hurricane hit Barbados killing hundreds of people. The wood is surely a section of one of the trees which fell victim to the winds.
