An American silver-gilt combination vanity case, aide-memoire with ivory sheet, twin coin holder and note-clip by R. Blackington & Co. of North Attleboro, Massachusetts, c. 1900, chased to cover with a lion supporting a vacant cartouche amidst scrolling foliage, foliage continuing on reverse, the sprung clip with trefoil end, hammered finish to interior, 2 suspension loops, 9 cm. high CONDITION REPORT: In excellent crisp condition, snaps tightly shut, gilding intact, one tiny ding to top in front of suspension loop

Carrier-Belleuse', 40cm high This lot is subject to CITES regulations if exporting outside of the EU.
Chinese inscribed ten-panel table screen, carved by Wu Nanyu (1894-1942) and dated 12th February 1925, each porcelain panel carved with figures in a landscape scene and calligraphic inscription, the ivory panel in the middle carved with an excerpt from an article. One panel is missing. All set within a carved and pierced wooden frame, Republic period, each side panel including frame 44.8 x 11.8cm. PROVENANCE: Lots 108 - 116, from a private lady collector. Information on the screen: The screen was a birthday gift from a Zhong Shimin (1879-1965) the Vice Financial Chief in the Republic period from 1921 -1928 TO "Old Marshal," Zhang Zuolin's (1875-1928) nickname, the warlord of Manchuria. A 19th century bowie knife, blade 11”, with logo of Manson Sheffield at forte on one side, silver plated hilt, the crossguard with finely knurled brass edging, the pommel inset on one side with small tweezers and, on the other, a bodkin, ivory coffin type hilt, with silver plated lower band and small (blank) panel inset on one side. A naval dirk c 1800, shallow diamond section blade 7", gilt crossguard with heavily embossed stylized foliate design to the top, plain beneath, baluster turned ivory grip and pommel (minor cracks), in its black polished leather sheath with gilt locket and chape, single ring suspension. †A late Victorian Indian Army General officer’s mameluke hilted sword, curved blade 31½”, etched with crowned VRI cypher and crossed baton and sword on the other, with palm wreaths in scrolled fenestrated panels, regulation copper hilt, the ornamental crossguard with slender langets and incorporating crossed baton and sword in wreath, ivory grips with rosettes, pommel pierced for gilt and crimson sword knot, in its brass scabbard with 2 rings, gilt lace slings and plain waistbelt. A most interesting English made American style dirk named to an Ensign of The 89th Regiment and evidently associated with that regiments part in the American War of 1812-14, curved blade 13", double edged at point and etched for three quarters of its length with foliate panels, on one side incorporating trophy of drum, polearms and flags, and on the other cannon, shield and polearms, copper gilt hilt, the crossguard in the form of an entwined serpent, chain link guard (replaced), American eagle head pommel and backstrap, finely diced ivory grip, in its black leather sheath with copper gilt locket, middle band and chape, all nicely engraved with lined, foliate panels, the locket also incorporating a trophy of flags and spears with Union flag in oval, and also engraved at the top “Ensign Johnson 89th Regt”, the chape incorporating a shield on trophy of flags, maker’s name on back of locket “Salter, sword cutler to HRH the Duke of Sussex, 35 Strand”, 2 suspension rings. Good Condition, the hilt retaining approximately 20% gilt, the scabbard mounts approximately 80% (hilt and scabbard locket a little loose). Plate 41
†A 19th century officer’s mameluke hilted sword, probably Indian Army, curved, pipe backed blade 33”, double fullered for 9” at point, gilt acorn finial shallow “S” crossguard with facetted sides and langets, engraved with a stylized diamond shaped sunburst in the centre, chequered solid ivory grip with floral stud and hole in pommel for knot, in its black leather scabbard with border engraved scalloped locket, middle band and chape with 2 rings. Good Condition (scabbard leather worn). Plate 44
A well executed miniature horse’s head on ivory oval disc, 3½” x 2½”, inscribed on the back in ink “Copenhagen Duke Wellington white (? unclear) horse battle of Waterloo hairs from his mane given us by Gerald Wellesley Dean. Windsor 1837”, together with a twist of fine white hair in a small turned horn box, diameter 1¾”. Good Condition. Plate 4
