Japanese carved ivory oval box and cover, Meiji period, decorated with two relief panels depicting everyday village life, the cover with figural knop, the underside with vacant aperture originally containing a signature, 13.75cm high Condition: Some fading to the black staining of the border of the cover. Body has a fine crack through one handle which is also loose, underside has a star crack visible from both above and below and this cuts through a rectangular recess which would have carried a lacquer seal mark (now missing) **General condition consistent with age
Small late 19th Century Chinese carved ivory group depicting a rural scene with a bridge over a river, figures at work and fishing, the underside with two character mark, two character mark reading Mitsumasa, 10.75cm wide, together with a late 19th/early 20th Century Japanese carved ivory okimono depicting Fukurokuju and Karako, 11.5cm high Condition: There is one vacant hole to the front edge of the central bridge in the figure group, and the second hole only has a very short rod suggesting that a figure is missing from this area. Below the bridge there is a small figure holding a staff, there may be a small depletion to his front arm. The second group of two figures appears sound though would benefit from a light clean. **General condition consistent with age
