All corkscrews with rusted blades and very dark blades. Some corkscrews with cracks or splits to the ivory handles. Chips to the edges etc throughout - see images

EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Young man in black coat with red sash", a miniature portrait study half-length oil on ivory, oval, unsigned, 6.5 cm x 5 cm(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS Taken out of frame- not a complete oval. One side looks flat, some gentle light scratches to the paint, paint flaking off just to one side below the gentleman's left hand shoulder, below his red sash - appears to be unsigned. The gentleman's jacket appears green under UV light and more design is visible, especially to his arms - see images.

A 19th Century Japanese Meiji Period carved ivory netsuke in the form of a bearded gentleman seated by a floral decorated screen with two oni peering from behind the screen, the back decorated with a four-toed dragon, signed to base, approx 4.1 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Overall general wear and scuffs. One of the horns to the figure to the top of the screen is broken off and missing. Overall quite yellowed and browned and quite a lot of dirt. Some small hairline cracks to the ivory visible to the underside and the edges of the screen. Some chips to the toes of the figure to the side of the screen.

HENRY COLLEN (1798-1878) "Lady in black dress with white lace collar and fur wrap", miniature portrait study head, head and shoulders, oval, oil on ivory signed and dated 1841 bottom left, 9.5 cm x 7.3 cm, in envelope with later inscription "A Hawley"(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS Edges appear to be tatty - some rips, circle to the far end of the black upper lady's dress - see images. Some light scratches throughout Very faintly marked " Colon 1841" which we will attempt to photograph. Nothing obvious when viewed under UV light. Not framed, just housed in a relatively modern brown envelope with inscription

An 18th Century mourning pendant, the oval ivory panel set with a maiden leaning against an urn on plinth initialled CD dated 1778, the back inscribed "Car. Darwin OPT Sept Juv Nat. 3 Sept 1758 OB.15. MATI 1778" 2.9 cm x 1.8 cm including loop CONDITION REPORTS The paint work is showing some signs of peeling under eye glass and the gilded highlights very worn. There is a dust like residue at the bottom of the pendant. The jump loop appears to have been re-soldered at some point. Has general wear and tear conducive with age and use and surface scratching etc See images for further details.

18TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Anne Unwin", a miniature portrait study, bust length, oil on ivory mounted with a hair lattice, oval, bearing gold coloured monogram initials and a hair study of "Urn beneath a tree" with ivory tag inscribed "A Unwin OB 2 Jan 1798 at 60 yrs", three mounted in one frame bearing label verso inscribed "Anne Unwin (née Buxton) half sister or Elizabeth Forbes (née Buxton of Coggeshall) who was mother of Mrs Laurie of Reading", 21.5 cm x 16.6 cm over all CONDITION REPORTS Main portrait image has flaking to the paint at the top of her shoulder and a cracking to the paint from her shoulder upwards vertically to the top edge re-painted. The hair plait is a little loose in places but all extant. The urn and treeappear in good condition though foil anchor point to right is missing. The velvet mount very worn all over. The easel stand silk very worn. the rear leather with three screws holding it together and two further screw holes and some wear to the right below the existing screw - see images for further information

A George V silver teapot of plain tapered oval form with two lines of scrolling decoration, together with a scrolling carved ivory handle, stamped "7043" to base, together with a matching twin-handled sugar pot (by James Dixon & Son, Sheffield, 1911 and 1910 respectively), approx 19.2 oz total, teapot approx 12.5 cm high

A box containing a tortoiseshell picture frame, 17.4 cm x 15.6 cm, an ebony paper knife in the form of an Indian sword tamped "Ebony" to side, a miniature Swedish pot with lid, a 19th Century carved ivory obelisk of small proportions, approx 11 cm high, a carved treen love token inscribed "E.G Year 1817", two brass protracters etc. CONDITION REPORTS Tortoiseshell frame - the shell is coming away at the joints, has surface scratching. There is a crack down one of the longer inside sides. Outside of the frame is wood and the back boards are split. There are some chips and cracks to the interior cushion corners. The paper knife point is rounded and the silver collar is loose and the pin is missing. The pot with lid - the lid is jammed on. there are some splits and chips to the base, the obelisk finial has been off and re-glued. there is some brown marks to its' edge. there are a couple of more visible splits to the twisted column and to the feet. the treen love token has some wear to the edges and some cracks to the supports on the side the year is engraved which have been refilled and some glue spots to the inside edge of all four supports. There is also evidence of glue to the inside of the cut-out section to the centre. The pencil is missing its' hook and there is no lead, very tarnished. The snuff box has several chips to the edge, all items have general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scratching etc - see images

A 19th Century Chinese shagreen travelling eating set comprising green stained, ivory handled knife and pair of ivory chopsticks together with attached silk purses, 32.3 cm CONDITION REPORTS Long crack/slit running down the body of the case, various losses to the shagreen, especially near the tip. Missing section in the brass cartouche - see images. the embroidered pouches are worn and ripped with loose threads, white powder-like substance in the folds, very yellowed, need attention. Connecting rope is very frayed and worn. The knife blade is rusty and bent, crack running around the handle on the wood. Loss to the pommel, various cracks, scratches etc throughout. Chopsticks yellow and worn. All items showing signs of general wear and tear through age and use

A 19th Century ivory "memento mori" hinged lidded box of rectangular form, the domed top depicting a bough studded with gold leaves above an urn on top of a gold panel with glass frame, the box opening to reveal an interior containing a mirror to lid and velvet to bottom, approx 2.1 cm x 8 cm CONDITION REPORTS Damage to the inlay of the branch, the central gold frame is not horizontal. Some scratches and impressed marks throughout. Some damage to the glass interior and the fabric border. Some damage to the textile - yellowed. General signs of wear and tear throughout.

A 19th Century ivory and silk fan, the silk top half painted with scenes of children playing outside with sheep and buckets of water, the blades on the same side painted with a scene of a shepherd blowing two horns around sheep, the back initialled "MB" with a dove and a bee, signed "Duvelleroy London" housed in a leather fan case inscribed "Dolly" to top, 32 cm, together with a tortoiseshell and gold inlaid fan with black laced top initialled "HS" 26.8 cm, and a further 19th Century ivory and lace fan, the blades with pierced and engraved floral decoration, the silk and lace depicting a continental landscape depicting a house in the foreground initialled "AR", 35 cm long(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS Tortoiseshell fan has a lot of play in the blades back and forth. Some small sections of missing gold inlay, backing fabric to the black lace fan is ripped and tatty, some losses. there are some rips mainly to the edges of the black lace, some damage to the body of the black lace, some holes, rips, etc. All over general signs of wear and tear. The next fan has both end blades broken but still present, the lace is yellowed, some rips and damage. The silk fan has some damage to the silk throughout, the whole is yellowed and appears to be "foxed". some dirty marks and various stainings, small scratches to the ivory, small minor chips etc. All items show signs of general wear and tear throughout

CIRCA 1800 ENGLISH SCHOOL "Gentleman in black coat and white stock with coiffured hair", a miniature portrait study, oil on ivory, unsigned, 7.9 cm x 5.9 cm(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS Over all condition good though with some wear to the extremities particularly to the left and right edges. A slight sheen to the very base, perhaps a glue or similar. Surface has dirt and fingerprint marks all over, frame very dirty and glass also in need of a clean. No backing to frame

EARLY 19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Gentleman in black coat and white stock", a miniature portrait study, bust length, watercolour, oval, unsigned, 8.5 cm x 6.5 cm, together with another of a "Lady with ringlets and jewellery in her hair", oil on ivory, unsigned, 7 cm x 5.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS Gentleman appears in sound condition, though with slight darker colouring to the top edge of the ivory panel but probably original. "Lady with ringlets" appears in good condition with no damage, rear paper mounts ripped probably to allow for access to the works

A Regency mahogany and inlaid serpentine chest of drawers, the plain top with inlaid and cross-banded decoration above four graduated drawers with ivory escutcheons and turned knob handles, raised on splayed feet, 94 cm wide CONDITION REPORTS Large split to the top running all the way along in the middle. Damage to the back right-hand corner and further splits throughout the top. Some small losses to the front edge including losses to the beadwork inlay to the front edge. Various deep scratches, pock marks, light scratches etc throughout. Front left-hand corner has some loss to the decorative beadwork. Looking down the front there is a chip to the escutcheon area on the top above the drawer and replaced section also where the lock goes into. Beadwork around all drawers has damage with losses and chips and splits etc throughout. Second drawer has damage to the escutcheon and damage to both handle/. Third drawer has various impressed marks etc. Last drawer looks like it has had a repair around the lock. To the apron - various splits and feet with various impressed marks, scuffs, chips, losses etc throughout. Down the right hand - very faded splits, dark marks, impressed marks. Front right and back right foot with splits. The left hand side again has splits, marks and scratches etc and the feet are in similar condition. Back board - some planks are loose. all over signs of general wear and tear throughout

A 19th Century horn circular lidded box, the lid set with ivory roundels and wirework pattern, approx 6.5 cm in diameter, together with a further horn lidded box of elongated oval form, approx 8.3 cm x 4.5 cm CONDITION REPORTS The oval box base and top are not a snug fit, some small chips to the rim on the base and to the lid, various light scratches throughout, some darker coloured scratches. Circular pot has a loose fitting top,some damage to the inlay to the top, light scratches throughout, large chip to the base, some smaller chips . Base appears to be bowed slightly with some splits and some small chips, both items - general signs of wear and tear throughout

CIRCA 1800 ENGLISH SCHOOL "Fanny Raymond-Barker" a miniature portrait study, half-length, oil on ivory, unsigned, oval, 7.8 cm x 6.2 cm, housed in a plain ebonised frame with a brass bezel, bears hand-written inscription verso "Fanny Raymond-Barker - this picture is for Arthur de C Rice" (probably Arthur de Cardonnel Rice b.24 Jan 1836 d.8 June 1911)(Provenance: the property of the Raymond Barker family late of Fairford Park Gloucestershire) CONDITION REPORTS Basically sound throughout - no visible signs of damage. Frame with chipping to the edge. Verso with old inscriptions and old but later paper mount and remnants of old framers label - see images

Interior is tatty, fraying, ripped etc throughout. Various signs of wear and tear throughout.

Lot 480

A Japanese black lacquered inro decorated as a cage containing three birds, the base of the case decorated with two three-toed dragons, raised on red cabriole legs, the inro made up of four sections and a lid, the cord set with a carved ivory ball, the inro approx 7.2 cm high CONDITION REPORTS The ivory ball has a large cracks and some yellowing and discolouration. The lacquered inro itself has some light wear and scuffs and one of the sections is slightly stiff. Some rubbing and wear to the lips to interior where sections have been opened and closed. Some dirt and deposits to interiors. Bears a label to interior which is partially stuck down and bears script. There is an area of damage to the exterior to one side and sections of the raised beaded laquered edges are missing in this area, and an area of the giltwork beside it is missing and is currently plain black (please see photos), some of the blue/green decoration around this area is also missing.

19TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Am I not a man & a brother?", study of a chained slave and shipping with all-seeing eye above, oil on ivory, circular, 4.8 cm diameter (this image was a symbol for the Abolishonists from the original design from The Society for Effecting the Abolishment of the Slave Trade, reproduced later by Josia Wedgwood in 1787, later a popular fashion statement promoting Justice, Humanity and Freedom) CONDITION REPORTS Taken out of frame. Loss of paint apparent to the figure, loss of something underneath the word "Man". The whole appears to be slightly yellowed, the back has been glued in something and later ripped - see images. Figure has a yellow hue just above his head, nothing is obvious when viewed under UV light
