A LATE 19TH CENTURY CHINESE CARVED IVORY PUZZLE BALL ON STAND the floral and foliate decorated outer ball with five concentric inner balls, the stand comprising a turned support mounted on a carved peacock, set to a hatched base with a stylized down-turned leaf border, overall 19.5cm high (the ball 5cm diameter).

A comprehensive GB collection in a Red Stanley Gibbons album 1840 - 1952 with many shade and watermark variations - Queen Victorian includes a Penny Black, pages of Penny Reds, some on blued paper and Twopenny blues, including a ivory head - very rare embossed stamps 1847 - 1854. A good range of surface printed issues 1855 - 1900 including some higher values. Damaged red pieces- One pawn has repaired top, seven pawns are good. Queens knight has minute chip to base. Queen has minute chip to crown. King has chips to base. Bishop has missing finial. Kings rook has small chip to base. All the rest are good but some fading in colour and small wear in places ie eyes of knights through handling. Damaged white pieces- Pawn has repaired chip to base.
