A Victorian Silver Gilt Mounted Carriage Whip, by White and Coleman of London, hallmarked London 1887, with ivory handle, the pommel bearing the Arms of the City of London and motto 'Domine Direge Nos' (Lord Direct Us) and the reverse a second arms and motto 'Dum Spiro Spero' ( While I Breath I Hope). Chased with scrolling decoration on both pommel and collars.
A late 19thC finely carved Ivory Brooch, probably Dieppe, the frame with ivy leaves and fern frongs, the open centre carved with a greyhound, 2in (5cm) wide, together with a fob seal, formed of a swivel double sided locket, set with bloodstones, each interior with box and glass, the swivel mount of crown form with registration mark (2)
Cunard interest; a Cheverton ivory miniature bust of David MacIver, on marbled column and circular base, the bust inscribed 'Fillans Fec't' and 'Cheverton Sc.', overall 8in (20.25cm) high. Note: David MacIver, 1840 - 1907, was an English steam ship owner and politician. From 1863 he was a partner in the firm of D and C MacIver who were managing owners of Cunard. He was chairman of the Liverpool Steamship Owners Association and President of the American Chamber of Commerce. He was also a director of the Great Western Railway.
A well carved 19thC Dieppe Ivory tryptich carving of Queen Elizabeth I, the highly detailed figure in regal pose holding an orb and sceptre, and wearing ermine robes with ruff around her neck, the hinged front opening each side to reveal a royal court scene, finely carved in high relief and engraved along base, 'ELISABETH ET LEURS MINISTRES', 7½in (19cm) high, top of sceptre damaged but present, orb lacks cross, one hinge needs pin.
