The calligraphy on the sides adds to the elegance of these masterfully crafted bottles. With stoppers included, this set comes in a beautiful gift box. The tradition of snuff-taking has a long and storied history in China, dating back to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Snuff, powdered tobacco, was introduced to China from the West in the early 17th century and quickly became a popular pastime among the upper classes. Snuff bottles, small containers designed to hold and dispense snuff, became a highly prized accessory during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912) and were often made from precious materials such as jade, ivory, and glass. The inside-painted glass snuff bottle is a unique and highly specialized form of snuff bottle art, dating back to the 18th century. The technique involves painting a miniature scene or design on the inside of a glass bottle using a tiny brush, working through the neck of the bottle. The intricate and delicate nature of this art form requires great skill and patience, as well as a steady hand and a keen eye for detail.Size: L:95-100mm / W:55-58mm ; 540g
