FERDINAND PREISS (German 1892-1943); a c.1925 cold painted bronze and carved ivory "Autumn Dancer" depicting a woman in dance pose balancing on one leg, raised on green onyx and black marble base above octagonal plinth, signed F Preiss to the back, height 36.5cm. Reference: Albert Shayo, Ferdinand Preiss Art Deco Sculpture, The Fire and The Flame, Suffolk, 2005 page 173 (example illustrated). CONDITION REPORT: There are several hairline splits to each part of the ivory particularly to the raised leg, face and back. The red detail to the jewellery is slightly rubbed. There are some traces of paint to the left arm, left hand probably reattached. Minor rubbing and tarnish to the gilding. A few areas of minor dirt. A few chips to the upper edge of the plinth. Minor wear to the base.
