W. Norie & Co., lock and brass escutcheon, 15in. (38cm.) wide
A charming late 19th century dagger, possibly Italian, double edged, flattened diamond section blade, 5¾", etched with trophy and lyre within scrolled gilt panels, flowers at forte, ball finialled crossguard, ivory grip with fluted pommel, in its tooled leather sheath with white metal locket and chape. An East India Company naval sword for Commander and above, 1805-25, straight, fullered blade 26½", etched with EIC lion, fouled anchor and trophies within laurel wreath and scrolled panels, gilt stirrup hilt, the roped edge langets bearing crowned EIC lion, lion's head pommel and backstrap, wirebound ivory grip with unusual lower band decorated with flowers and vines, in its gilt mounted leather scabbard with two hanging rings (leather and chape restored). Good Condition, retaining approximately 35% gilt (blade some wear). Plate 25
A Georgian naval officer's sword, c 1800, of 1796 light cavalry type, curved shallow fullered blade 28½" etched with sea monster, trophies and scrolls, gilt stirrup hilt with long oval langets, the lower section bearing crowned fouled anchor, lion's head pommel and facetted backstrap, wirebound ivory grip (cracked at top), in its tooled leather scabbard with line engraved gilt mounts and 2 hanging rings, the locket engraved "Booth & Palmer, Chatham". A Georgian naval officer's service sword for Commanders and above, broad, shallow fullered blade 29½", of light cavalry type, sharpened for service, etched with crowned GR cypher, standing dragoon, trophy and florets, gilt hilt with slotted, scrolled bar guard, pierced ornamental knucklebow incorporating fouled anchor within crowned laurel wreath, lion's head pommel and facetted backstrap, silver banded ivory grip, in its leather scabbard with line engraved mounts and 2 hanging rings, small part of original gilt bullion sword knot. Good Condition, the hilt retaining approximately 75% original gilt, the blade approximately 25% blueing and gilding. Plate 26
A good quality Belgian double barrelled 16 bore percussion sporting gun, 46½" overall, browned alternate twist and damascus barrels 30½" with gold line and arrow at breech and muzzle, deeply engraved back action locks gold inlaid "Lassence-Rong a Liege" (1842-59), the hammers engraved with dragons and with gold inset eyes, deeply engraved steel mounts incorporating 4 comical masks with gold eyes, baluster throat pipe, walnut butt with chequered wrist, sling swivels, horn ramrod with ivory tip. Very Good Working Order and Untouched Condition retaining virtually all original browned finish to barrels, age patina overall. Plate 32
A scarce steel framed single shot, single action 8mm percussion Apache folding knuckleduster knife pistol, 9" open, folding flambouyant blade 2½", folding trigger, blued 2½" barrel engraved on top flat, sections of flat ivory on sides of frame secured by 2 screws on each side, ribbed brass capping to fore end with engraved brass frame at breech, a hatched stud locks knuckleduster in position, only markings are an "L" on base of blade and an "L" and "R" on rings of knuckleduster. †A Belgian 6 shot 7mm open frame double action pinfire revolver, 7½" overall, round barrel 3½", the frame and cylinder with some simple silver lined decoration; Liege proved; folding trigger; plain ivory grips. Working Order and Good Condition, retaining some original blued finish, mainly to the cylinder (trigger spring weak); in its shaped purple velvet lined leather covered purse case (some wear, one hinge loose) Plate 36
A 12 bore Japanese matchlock rifle, 43" overall, heavy flat topped round barrel 28" with raised ring at muzzle and block sights, with chiselled mon at breech (originally inlaid), and silver inlaid for its entire length with jelly fish, branches and leaves, and birds, the breech with brass flash guard and hinged brass pan cover, the underside signed with 4 characters; plain brass lock secured by brass pins and single brass band which also secures the breech plug, cherry wood (?) fullstock, the underside of the fore end inlaid with 3½" ivory arrow. Basically GC (barrel moderately pitted overall, brass mainspring, trigger and ramrod missing) Plate 3
