A Chinese ivory handled bamboo cane, carved with figures and buildings and with gold coloured metal collar dated 1889. Length 89 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The cane itself is in generally very good order with no significant damage or scratching. The tip appears to be original. The ivory handle is complete with no losses however there are stress fractures to the ivory which should be visible from our images. The handle is not loose.
A Continental miniature painting on ivory signed "Laurent", depicting two figures by a river. Diameter 11.5 cm in gilt brass frame with enamelled edge and with easel back (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Both the frame and the miniature are in extremely good order with no damage, no repairs and no restoration. The painting is under glass and we can see no evidence of any cracks to the ivory.
An oval portrait miniature, young girl with blue sash, painted on ivory and with hair back, dated 1896, inscribed verso "Digby Richard Lawson". 70 mm x 55 mm, cased (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The portrait miniature is under glass and appears to be in very good order. There is no sign of fading and we cannot see any cracks to the ivory, the gold coloured metal frame is in good condition also. The rear of the frame is damaged in three areas to the blue oval enamelled band. There are hairline cracks which is a shame. The outer case is intact but the velvet is badly rubbed. The outer case itself is in generally good order with minor scuffs particularly to the bottom of the easel back.
A Japanese Okimono group, three figures, signed to base and raised on a wooden plinth. Height excluding base 90 mm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This group is in generally good order with no losses to the carving. There are however numerous stress fractures to the ivory which should be visible from our images. There is one down the back of the main figure and several around the sack upon which he is seated. They also run through to the base. There are others are the sides of the smaller figures. The wooden base is in good condition and is simply a little dirty.
A Victorian ivory crucifix, with amboyna wood cross. Height 40 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: Figure height 15 cm. No condition issues to ivory. There is one small veneer loss to the cross on the left hand side and a small 6 mm section of stringing is missing above the Christ head.
An early 19th century portrait miniature, oval, gentleman in frock coat, with hair back. 65 mm x 58 mm, cased (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: This is painted on ivory. We cannot see any cracks or damage to the paintwork. There is minor discolouration but this maybe on the rear of the glass. The frame is in good order. The hair back and enamel work is also in generally very good condition with no visible condition issues.
A late 19th century Royal Worcester porcelain pot pourri jar with pierced cover and original inner lid, shape 1313. The ivory ground lobed body painted with apple blossom, harebell, clematis and japonica, Rd No.112588, height including lid and gilt handle 20cm. Condition Report: Very slight scratching and wear, but no damage.
