A Chinese black lacquer sewing compendium box, with ivory bobbins, needlecases and related items, 40 cm wide and a carved wooden mask (box) Condition report Report by NG Inside of lid with several holes. Appear to have been caused by utensils kept inside. Interior tray mostly complete with boxes and dividers although there are some wear and knocks to these. The majority of tools and fittings are bone and condition varies. The tray lifts out, the base of the internal top section is split. Drawer opens to reveal a fitted interior which again appears to be complete with dividers but knocked and bumped as overall condition of box. Lacquer box: exterior decoration very rubbed, especially to cover. Several areas of loss. Several chips and knocks to lacquer. Other surface wear.

Possible repair to one of the silver brackets to reverse on left hand side. Some small surface scratches and wear.
A 19th century miniature of a lover's eye, mounted as a pendant with seed pearls See front cover colour illustration Condition report Report by NG Frame approx. 30 mm diameter. Miniature approx. 24 mm diameter. Top to bottom approx. 40 mm. Miniature appears to be painted on ivory, there is a scratch approx. 3 mm long at about 11.00 o'clock so you can see it is not on paper. Grubby between miniature and glass. Mount unmarked. Suspension loop on pendant has been repaired, loop now split. Metal around locket window with some knocks and bumps, locket displaying a circle of material currently. Seed pearls dirty and discoloured, with some knocks to skins.
A Victorian silver three piece tea service, decorated flowers and foliage, James Nasmyth & Co, Edinburgh 1839, approx. 38.7 ozt (all in) (3) See illustration Condition report Report by NG Date letters all match. Some hallmarks with slight rubbing. Teapot: Ivory mounts to handle split and handle loose. Some play in hinge. Front right foot squashed and bent so does not sit straight. Possibly had crest removed from one cartouche. Milk jug: Again one foot a little bent so it is wobbly. Possibly had crest removed from a cartouche. Sugar bowl: Stands square on four feet. Cartouches look even. Overall surface rubbing and with some small scratches and dents consistent with use and age.

λ A FINE JAPANESE GOLD LACQUER SHIBAYAMA SAYA SHEATH INRO MEIJI 1868-1912 The saya decorated with oni, long-nose bakemono, adults and children playing in a continuous mountainous scene, with mother of pearl, tortoiseshell, coral, aogai and ivory inlays on a gold lacquer background, the inner three-case lacquer inro decorated in gold togidashi and e-nashiji with variously patterned brocades, signed, with a wood and lacquer ojime in the shape of a war drum, and an ivory netsuke shaped as an oni examining a massive oni mask, signed Gyokuzan, 11.2cm.
λ A FINE JAPANESE SHIBAYAMA SILVER AND GOLD LACQUER KODANSU MEIJI 1868-1912 The rectangular table cabinet with simulated bamboo borders framing a dense background of flowers, with variously shaped panels lacquered and inlaid with sprays of seasonal flowers and birds in ivory, mother of pearl, coral and tortoiseshell, the interior fitted with four drawers decorated in lacquer with flowers, foliage and stylised waves, each with a swing handle, unsigned, together with a hardwood stand, the cabinet 22.3cm x 17.7cm x 23.7cm. λ TWO JAPANESE IVORY NETSUKE 19TH CENTURY One a manju carved with a tennin floating before cloud scrolls, the reverse with lotus flowers and pods amongst stylized waves, the other a stag antler ryusa-type manju with a flowering prunus under the moon, the reverse with pine and bamboo, with an ivory carving of a shishi dog, unsigned, 4.4cm. Spectacular and massive Agra carpet, north India, last quarter 19th century, 40ft. x 16ft. 7in. 12.20m. x 5.06m. The deep ‘agra’ crimson red field with an all- over lattice design of cloudbands and floral palmettes within linked arabesques, reciprocal green and ivory trefoil inner guards; beautifully shaded dark blue to deep aquamarine main border of flowers and palmettes. Condition: Areas of wear and corrosion in places; heavier wear on left hand side edge of field and border down to foundation in some places; slight surface stains; small holes and crude repairs centre field towards top end of field; 1ft. 3in., 38cm. square repair to right side of field just below centre of carpet.
