A Victorian ivory and silver plated tea caddy by Henry Atkin, of oval form, the ivory body carved with lappets, beading and a central vacant oval cartouche, the domed cover and base decorated with wrigglework and beading, 4¾in. (12cm.) high. *Condition:Three fine hairline cracks to cartouche. No other faults - very good overall.

Lot 15

A set of ten Art Nouveau tiles the ivory glazed square tiles with stylised poppy decoration, moulded trademark to reverse, 6in. (15.2cm.) square; together with three other antique tiles. (13) *Condition: Glaze crazing and some glaze wear to edges. All of the tiles have one (and some two) corners slightly cut - probably to fit a fireplace or washstand originally. The rose tile has heavy glaze wear. The two treacle glazed brick tiles are in good condition.

A Chinese export lacquered twin compartment tea caddy 19th century, of octagonal form, decorated with alternating reserves of figures in interior and exterior settings and floral designs, atop a gilt floral band, the hinged cover with gilt-painted reserve depicting figures in a exterior setting, the rim with floral decorated reserves, opening to reveal twin metal canisters, etched with repeating stylised and floral design, the central raised circular covers opening to reveal inner lids with ivory knop finials, 7½in. (19cm.) long. *Condition: The middle left hand side reserve of main carcass, having decoration loss to front edge, light gilt loss to each edge of main carcass, the hinged cover with decoration loss to back high edge above hinge area, further gilt loss to high edges, overall fair/good, inner metal canisters with crumpled bodies and splits, tape repair to lower edge on one.

A Chinese red ground embroidered silk woman's informal robe 19th century, finely embroidered with phoenix and butterflies flying amidst auspicious objects and a variety of flowers including peonies, prunus blossom, magnolia and lotus, worked in knot stitch and couched metal thread, on a red damask ground, the turquoise borders with similar decoration and outer guards with repeating butterfly decoration, the ends of the flared sleeves with multiple borders in turquoise, gold, violet, pink and ivory with decoration of birds, auspicious objects, phoenix and flowers, the inside of the cuffs with a further turquoise border and second broader border of noblewomen in gardens on an ivory ground, the robe lined in dark pink silk damask, collar to hem 45in. (114.25cm.). *Condition: Exterior colour very good with no fading. Minor splits and some surface dirt marks to collar. Metal threads loose from decoration to right shoulder and to upper centre front just below collar. Several other scattered pulled metal threads elsewhere to front and back. Red lining has some patches of fading to colour, brown spotted stain marks and two splits to front near top. No evidence of any repairs or restoration.

E Townsend for Royal Worcester miniature cabinet vase, of globular form, decorated with fruit and berries on ivory ground, having gilt rims, pattern No. 2491, puce backstamp, dating to 1891, 3in. (7.7cm.) high. *Condition: Good condition, nothing to note.

Lot 408

A Victorian burr walnut, faux grained and agate mounted games compendium by Mechi of London the domed rectangular box mounted with gilt brass strapwork and cabochon agates, the interior with inset brass maker's plaque, 'I. J. Mechi 118 Regent St. London', lined in red morocco and purple silk, with fitted coromandel and ivory cribbage and bezique boards inside lid, two ebony and ivory whist markers, an eight sided spinning top dice, ivory fish form counters, markers and chips, 12¾ x 7½ x 3¼in. (32.5 x 19 x 8.25cm.), veneer damage to lid. *Condition: Large flake from veneer to back left corner of cover and further veneer lifting to LH edge. Bubble to veneer to front centre and small split back right corner. Polish dulled. Interior VG. Playing cards later and incomplete. Missing some original contents.

An apprentice piece mahogany and boxwood four drawer chest 19th century, the four drawers with turned ivory handles, raised on splayed feet, 8¼in. (21cm.) high. * Condition: One ivory handle missing, one handle with damage, light scratches to sides, overall good.

A 19th century Anglo-Indian ivory walking stick the shaft, simulating bamboo, each section unscrewing, the well detailed pommel or T handle fashioned as elephant and lion mask, ornate silver ferrule, 32 3/8in. (82.2cm.) long. *Condition: The elephant head with tiny nibble to lower section, the lion mask still showing all the teeth, the bamboo sections with age related splits, one middle section with repair, overall good.

A collection of four ivory handled desk seals 19th century, comprising of a tapered and reeded version with spiral band of carved flowers, 3¼in. (8.2cm.) long; Squat baluster, 3in. (7.6cm.) long; ball topped with silver mount, London, 1862, 2½in. (6.4cm.) long; slender tapering, having diagonal rows of half beads and decorative base, 3in. (7.6cm.) long, together with a baluster bone seal (ink stained) with brass end and wafer base. (5) *Condition: Each having light surface wear and or natural fractures, bone version stained.

(6.4cm.) high; eye shaped tatting shuttle with bas relief floral carving; openwork spiral and clasped hands crochet hook; needle holder seal; awl, together with a vegetable "ivory" acorn thimble/bobbin holder and four thimbles two in silver, the first Birmingham, 1924, the other stamped 925, one in enamel and one in ruby glass capped with millefiori decoration. (quantity) *Condition: Bone items generally in good condition, with light surface wear and or fractures, thimbles good.

(23.2cm.) high. *ConditionL: Minor gilt rubs, otherwise very good.

Weaponry - An unusual early bayonet - possibly an Artillery Officer's Measuring Bayonet circa 1650, the turned horn grip with ivory inlay, the steel pommel and crosspiece with twist decoration, the 24cm. triangular steel blade with engraved sections numbered '1' through to '120', starting at point, overall length 37cm. *Condition: Some pitting to blade, still with point, good.

Weaponry - A fine and rare English Ceremonial plug bayonet circa 1690, believed to be for an Army Officer, with fine silver pique work on the tapering turned ivory handle, the cast metal finial and short quillons terminating with helmeted heads, the 33cm. tapering single edged blade with three copper inset comet marks at forte of John Hathaway, overall length 18½in. (47cm.). *Condition: In fine condition, tiny amount of wear to blade (polished), grip with yellowing.

An Isfahan silk prayer rug the ivory field with central eight pointed star medallion amidst scrolling branches and flowers with perched blue pheasants, below iron red floral spandrels and lower border, within a conforming outer border and repeating floral guards, 73 x 47in. (185.5 x 121cm.). *Condition: Some wear to selvege to both sides. A little wear to centre around lower part of medallion and also to top of Mihrab. Good overall, strong colours.

Lot 643

A Kashmiri silk vase design rug the ivory Mihrab with flowering vines issuing from a vase, below pale grey spandrels, within a black ground floral border, 73½ x 49in. (187 x 124.5cm.). *Condition: Some wear to pile to main field, notably to left of vase and top centre of Mihrab. Some loose cords to selvege and heavy wear and losses to top left corner. Colours good.

Lot 645

A Tabriz silk rug the central dusky pink shaped medallion with cross shaped inner gol, on an ivory ground with dense all over decoration of birds in flowering branches, with conforming dusky pink spandrels, within a pale buff floral meander border and narrow floral meander guards, 64 x 41½in. (167.5 x 105.5cm.). *Condition: Good to very good overall. Minor wear to silk at one end by fringe. Minor selvege wear to sides. Colours VG.

Lot 647

A Persian Isfahan style rug the central pendant medallion on a dark blue ground with all over decoration of scrolling, flowering branches and floral spandrels, worked in shades of brown, pale salmon, ivory, light grey-blue and pale and olive green, within a brown floral rosette border, 78½ x 47¾in. (199 x 121.5cm.).

A Chinese Karagusian room sized rug 1930s, the stylised alternating pale blue and pink medallions on an ivory ground, within a plain pale blue border, 122 x 78in. (310 x 198cm.). *Condition: Good condition. One end is a little dirty and would benefit from a clean, with a tea stain to the fringe.

An Iranian rug third quarter 20th century, the central ivory floral pendant medallion on a madder ground with all over floral decoration and conforming ivory and mid-blue spandrels, within a mid-blue floral meander border, 76½ x 42in. (193 x 107cm.), dirty. *Condition: Dirty, variation to dye colour to one end. Some damage to selvege at the same end. Pile flattened but good overall.

A Shirvan rug mid-20th century, the triple hooked lozenge medallions on a Royal blue field with outer double bird's head medallions, within multiple latch hook, barber's pole and repeating medallion borders, woven in shades of pale salmon, light blue, light green, rust, dark brown, ivory, wine red and buff, 77 x 55in. (195.5 x 139.75cm.).

Lot 655

An Afghan Enssi rug first half 20th century, the four panels with plant motifs divided by a cross and with floral meander borders, within a conforming outer border and repeating diamond guard, worked in typical shades of madder, grey-brown, ivory and gold, 87 x 48in. (221 x 122cm.). *Condition: Some even fading to colours. Some damage to fringe in places to both ends and some old moth damage to pile to two corners and edges. Tiny hole to one corner.

A brass bound mahogany cased two-day marine chronometer by Norris and Campbell, Liverpool mid 19th century, c.1850, no.486, the circular four-pillar single chain fusee movement with Earnshaw type escapement, compensated cut bi-metallic balance with circular weights, helical spring and faceted diamond end-stone, the spotted backplate with blued steel spring set-up ratchet and movement pillar securing screws, the 3¾in. circular silvered Roman dial with subsidiary seconds dial at six, up/down register and engraved 'Norris and Campbell, Liverpool No.486', with gold hands, secured by a screw-down bezel into a brass bowl with sprung shuttered winding hole to underside, mounted via gimbals into a mahogany three tier case, with vacant brass name plaque to top, capped corners over strap-bound edges and the sides with brass carrying handles, the front with vacant ivory roundel below a push-button catch, over a shaped brass key escutcheon, with winding keys, the case 6½in. (16.5cm.) square, 6¾in. (17.1cm.) high. *Condition: Very good condition overall and appears to be original and unrestored. Winds and runs. A few very faint scratches to dial, small faint patch of oxidisation inside seconds dial, movement very clean, case very good, some wear to gilt to brass, lacks case key.
