A 19th century mahogany wheel barometer by C. C. G & Co 34 St. John's Lane, London. The mahogany case has swan-neck pediment and satinwood crossbanding. With silvered forecasting dial, thermometer and hygrometer, ivory adjuster and domed glass covers. 112 x 31cm. Condition reports are not availabe for our Interiors Sales.

Lot 133

An olive wood rectangular card case, 11.25cm, an ivory Vizagapatam type card case, 10.5cm, a tortoiseshell bone detailed small trinket box, 9.75 x 7 x 5cm, and a tortoiseshell ivory and horn snuff box (4). CONDITION REPORT: Snuff box lid will not open, minor surface wear. Two small cracks to the front section of the Vizagapatam type case with tiny losses throughout. The olive wood example is in good order. Small trinket box has old repairs where bone has been replaced with another material. Crude repairs and additions. Area of tortoiseshell missing to the left hand side and is in a rather tired condition.

An early 20th century oak cased part canteen of Old English pattern flatware including ivory handled knives and a four piece meat and game carving set, also a small group of loose flatware to include Duchess Plate pastry forks, and a footed bowl.

A group of walking sticks and canes including an ivory handled example with silver collar and malacca shaft, antler handled example, another with a slot and wrythen twisted shaft, etc (5). CONDITION REPORT: Silver and white metal mounts are damaged and loose in part, general surface wear and tear throughout.

A group of variously hallmarked silver and silver handled items to include an ivory bladed page turner, Charles Henry Dumenil, London 1900, a sterling silver handled blotter, a similar seal wax holder, a magnifying glass, Atkin Bros, Sheffield and an Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee hallmarked silver letter opener modelled as a Georgian meat skewer, Sheffield 2002, boxed, also a plated hexagonal nib brush (9). CONDITION REPORT: The letter opener is in good condition, page turner with major chip to the tip and a few smaller examples, propelling pencil case with numerous dints, the magnifying glass handle is slightly twisted, the stamp roller with numerous nibbles and dints around the rim mounts, the seal wax holder handle is af, majority of silver pieces with tarnish and surface wear commensurate with age, mother of pearl letter opener af (handle detached from the blade).

Lot 576

A Japanese Meiji period carved ivory okimono modelled as a man sawing plank of wood with two character mark to underside, length 18cm (af). CONDITION REPORT: Head has been off and reglued, several breakages and losses to either side, split to man's head on left side, splits to the log on both sides, natural hairline cracks and general surface wear. The end of the saw has also been glued and there's a small chip to the very end, glue residue around both feet and there is a gap at the joint between his lower torso and left leg.

CONDITION REPORT: An old section of the goose wing knitting sheath has worn away from use over the years, small rounded section to the ivory top, general wear elsewhere.
