A 19th century portrait miniature on ivory, oval, lady with bow in hair. 60 mm x 50 mm, black painted frame and brass hanger. CONDITION REPORT: On the left hand side of the portrait is the initial "E". The blue sky background looks a little washed out. The ivory itself is in good order and free from any chips or cracks. The frame is in generally good order however on the metal mount framing the figure the gilding has worn to the base metal.
A 19th century portrait miniature on ivory, oval, female figure with white blouse. 55 mm x 42 mm, ebonised frame, foliate brass hanger (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is a small nick to the top right hand corner edge of the ivory however this cannot be seen under the metal mount. There is also a small chip to the edge of the bottom of the ivory but again this is covered by the metal mount. Generally there are no further visible faults and no cracks visible. The frame is typically in good order although the ground is rather crazed. The metal framing is slightly rubbed. The backing card at the rear of the picture is a modern replacement.
A 19th century portrait miniature on ivory, oval, female figure with blue hair ribbon. 68 mm x 55 mm, ebonised frame, acorn hanger (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ivory itself is slightly warped but there are no visible chips or cracks. The edges are rather dirty more so at the base and top. The paintwork appears to be in good condition. The frame itself is basically in good order, the metalwork only being slightly rubbed. The lugs at the rear holding the image in place are slightly worn and easily bent.
A 19th century portrait miniature on ivory, oval, gentleman with frock coat. 65 mm x 52 mm, ebonised frame, foliate hanger. CONDITION REPORT: The ivory appears to be in good order with no visible chips or cracks. The paint is good throughout. Although one may think that the sky is a little washed out the portrait of the figure itself is very strong. The frame is in generally good order with only the slightest of nicks on the top right hand corner and very small minor nicks around the edge. The gilt framing is good. The folding metal retaining clips at the rear are very loose and flimsy and the image does sit rather loosely within the frame.

A silver mounted tortoiseshell and leather desk blotter, London 1920, 23 cm x 29 cm, and a tortoiseshell and gilt metal mounted card case, 19th century, with gold coloured metal inlay and ivory aide memoir to the interior (old repairs), 11 cm x 8 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This is a tortoiseshell blotter with silver mounts. The front has very light surface scratches. There are no obvious splits or cracks to the tortoiseshell. The leather binding has a 6 cm split at the spine and is worn along the edges and corners. The interior cardboard and watered silk are loose and perished and require attention. The tortoiseshell cigarette case has a small section of the base missing and also to the top right hand corner of the base. The base has three patch repairs as it has been split in half. The top has a large split running from the right hand edge to the centre and also a further larger split running 3/4 of the length of the body and has small chips by the side of the crack.
A Chinese ivory Okimono of Hotei, circa 1920's, finely carved, seated upon his sack of treasures and with three boys clambering around him, with four character pseudo Cheng Hua incised mark to the underside, upon a wooden stand. 11 cm high excluding stand (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: There is a very light scratch on the crown of Hotei's head, this can be more clearly seen with using a jewellers loupe. The central nerve canal that exits on the side of his head has been filled with ivory or plugged with ivory. There is 1.5 cm fine hairline crack to his left hand side by his sack. Otherwise there are no obvious faults. There is a very fine hairline crack on the base at the centre approximately 5 mm in length and a 3 mm hairline crack almost directly next to it. The base is in good condition although sun bleached throughout. The ivory figure weighs 408.5 grams.
An Art Deco bronze and ivory figure, lady, early 20th century, in the manner of Josef Lorenzl, the head tipped to one side and hands on hips, raised on a green onyx plinth, the retaining nut with monogram "S Co.". Height 17.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: In our opinion this is a period Art Deco piece. Viewed under a jewellers loupe there is a very fine hairline crack running from the centre parting of her hair down to her right eyelid. Viewed under a jewellers loupe the ivory surface of the head has numerous light scratches. All the high points on her torso, to include breasts, buttons, elbows and both borders on her skirt, her right knee, left heel and both buttons on her shoe are rubbed through to the bronze. However this in my opinion does not detract from the overall appearance and effect.
A Japanese Tokyo School carved ivory figure group, male figure with tortoise and two children beneath, with rectangular seal mark to base, four character mark and also marked "By Shozan". Height 20 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ivory figure is 19.5 cm high when taken out of its wooden stand. There appear to be no faults or losses however attention must be drawn to the left side raised leg of the performing animal as it appears in my opinion to be short and may have been re-carved. Other than that there are no obvious faults or flaws.
