A Canton carved ivory card case, circa 1860, carved with seated and upright figures amongst buildings and pine trees, the sides carved with dragons and birds against a Lingzhi ground, with vacant oval cartouche. 9 cm x 5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: One side of the lid has had a repair as there are traces of glue still evident however this is only viewable using a jewellers loop. The main body is in good order with no obvious splits or chips. Weight 53.58 grams.
An ivory desk thermometer, mid to late 19th century, the top with gadrooned and beaded step rims above a pentagonal column housing a thermometer graded from freezing to fever heat, all on a raised circular base. Height 10.7 cm. (The now vacant top section would have housed either a compass or small sundial.)
A George III stained ivory and shagreen spyglass by Dollond of London, late 18th century, single draw cylindrical form, with shagreen covered body, the red leather covered draw inset with tooled floral decoration and stamped "Dollond, London", all housed in its original ray skin and plush lined case. Glass diameter 3.8 cm, 7.3 cm closed (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The shagreen case is in good order throughout. The edges, top and the hinge area are slightly worn and faded but it is generally a good uniform colour. Generally the shagreen on the glass is in good order however there is a small tiny patch which looks like a repair which has replaced six small cells. The eyepiece and housing are in good order as is the single draw. The end lens housing has a single crack and a small piece of ivory missing, the screw which this fits to has a 1.5 mm x 2 mm section of ivory missing. Both the glasses appear to be free from any scratches or chips.
A malacca and ivory sword stick, 19th century, with ivory handle and malacca shaft with silver collar drawing to a steel double edged blade, the shaft with horn ferrule. Blade length 39.3 cm, overall length 91.5 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The ivory handle is stained through age and has some age cracks but these are not open. The silver mounts have small knocks and are tarnished. There is a 14 cm strip of dark brown going to light brown staining but we am not sure what this is. There is a bend at the base of the shaft. 10 cm below the silver collar there is a very fine 12 cm hairline crack to the shaft. The lower half of the shaft is extremely crazed. The blade itself is double edged and there are patches of rust throughout.
A Georgian portrait profile miniature on ivory, a notable gentleman facing left, picked out in light brown and body colour against a black ground and mounted in a gilt metal and enamelled frame, the reverse with blue enamel border framing a woven hair memorial and with gilt suspension loop. 7.5 cm x 7 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The image does not fully fit the frame. There are 46 vacant cloisons in the enamelled border which should be filled with white enamels forming to leaves. On the reverse the blue glass has a triangular section missing. There is a further crack to the blue glass located between 5 & 6 if looking on a clock dial.
A 19th century single draw ivory and gilt metal eyeglass, early 19th century, with turned eyepiece above the bell shaped body, 6.8 cm closed, 9.5 cm fully open, and an ivory nickel plated expanding purse, 19th century, the lid carved with a single relief rose, concertina interior, diameter 5.7 cm (see illustration).
An Aspreys travelling alarm clock, mid 20th century, with square silvered dial with Roman numerals all in a folding green leather case, a pair of folding tortoiseshell and gold coloured metal mounted glasses, in leather case by Theodore Hamblin Ltd., a brass bookmark, the terminal as a cats face the opposing end a mouse on an alabaster block, a silver mounted bookmark, whist marker in the form of a rotating hand on a marked dial and a pair of lorgnettes (6). CONDITION REPORT: The 19th Century ivory and turned wood counteriis in good condition throughout other than a small piece of material to the underside missing but this does not detract in any shape or form. The folding glasses in the case are in good order throughout. The lorgnettes may have been gilded previously but this has worn away leaving the base metal however they are still in working, serviceable order. The silver mounted bookmark is in good order. The gilded brass bookmark with cat mask terminal has the glass eyes still inset. The mouse on block on the opposite end of the ribbon is in good order albeit the alabaster block does have some very slight rub mark around the edges. On the whole this is a very good lot and faults would be basically wear and tear that is commensurate with age.
A portrait miniature on ivory, gentleman, early 19th century, mounted in copper frame and backing, with suspension loop. Image 5 cm x 3.8 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: As you look at the image there appears to be a small tiny flake of paint at the very tip of his collar on the left hand side just below his wisps of hair, this may be visible if you enlarge the image on the website. There appear to be no cracks or warping to the ivory, the glass does appear to be rather dirty underneath but not overly so and the image remains bright and crisp. There does not appear to be any overpainting or restoration and no obvious faults.
Two portrait miniatures, 19th century, one on ivory depicting a lady of note with her blonde hair in tight curls and with a blue ribbon, the other after John Baptise Greuze, a watercolour portrait of the artists daughter. Images 6 cm x 5.2 cm and 7 cm x 5.5 cm respectively (see illustration).

Overall length 85 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The locking mechanism does work but is rather tight. The horn handle has been originally set with six dominoes however a domino which should sit on the crook of the handle is now missing. Each domino has a small chip or a hairline stress crack. The embossed gilt metal collar has lost its gilding. The double edge blade appears to be in a nice condition with a small amount of tarnishing and a very minimal rust spot (singular). The Malacca scabbard has a natural colour to the upper 50% and a dark stained colour to the lower 50%. It has a few long splits measuring approximately 18 cm, 17.5 cm and 20 cm and a further one of 18 cm issuing from the ferule upwards. There is also a very fine 3 cm hairline crack to the top of the scabbard.
