A late 19th century Japanese gold lacquered inroOf five sectional form decorated with a cockerel, a hen and chicks; together with a carved ivory netsuke modelled as a monkey on the back of a fish. 9.25 cm high. An 18th century walnut and oak spice cupboardThe moulded broken swan neck pediment above the hinged line inlaid panelled door enclosing a fitted interior with three pigeon holes above three drawers, a further narrow drawer above the central cupboard enclosed by panelled doors with ivory banding flanked by secret pilaster drawers and surrounded by an arrangement of eight various drawers. 62.5 cm high; 45.5 cm wide. CONDITION REPORTS: Some scuffing, scratching, fading and staining, some small losses to pediment, base moulding replaced, some slight chipping to interior, general wear.
A 19th century tortoiseshell tea caddy The domed hinged rectangular top including two lidded compartments, above the main body with various ivory strung inlays, standing on bun feet. 20.5 cm wide. CONDITION REPORTS: Some small veneer restorations, escutcheon lacking, repairs to hinge areas, interior lids slightly bowed, general wear.
An early 20th century Chinese Republic period carved and stained ivory figureWorked as a woman holding a sword and circular box and cover, stood beside a street lantern decorated with dragons and signed with calligraphic text, the shade worked with children playing in a garden landscape, the figure with incised red stained seal mark to base, standing on a cinnabar lacquer plinth base. 36.5 cm high. CONDITION REPORTS: Figure generally in good condition with expected wear, slight rubbing to decoration, some possible minor nibbles, lantern shade previously broken, re-glued and with losses, lantern stand with shrinkage cracks and slightly misshapen, thread worn, base with repaired chip.

A 19th century white metal mounted whale bone and ivory walking stick The collar inscribed Presented to W Smith C.T.; together with a 19th century ivory mounted parasol, the handle worked as a bird of prey's foot; and a white metal mounted swagger stick. The former 77.5 cm long. (3) CONDITION REPORTS: Whale bone stick with shrinkage crack and nerve hole to handle. Parasol with losses to handle, swagger stick with dints and bruises.

3rd-4th century AD. A slightly domed bronze discoid military phalera with incised concentric circles, applied central repoussé plaque with image of a horseman with one raised arm and hunting dog beneath the steed; central hole to the reverse. See Stephenson, I.P. Roman Infantry Equipment: The Later Empire, Stroud, 1999, for discussion; Stewart, A. Faces of Power: Alexander's Image and Hellenistic Politics, California, 1993. 32 grams, 85mm (3 1/2"). UK art market, acquired prior to 1980. The image is of Alexander the Great on his favourite horse, Bucephalus, accompanied by his dog, Peritas. A similar image to this one can be seen on the so called Alexander sarcophagus now in the Istanbul Archaeology Museum, as well as a decorative ivory applique from a couch found in the tomb of Philip II. Fine condition.
18th century AD. A 1796 pattern Light Cavalry officer's sword with curved ground blade with script to the spine 'J.J. Runkel Solingen'; gilt bronze hilt with carved bone or ivory grip, to one face of the blade the royal arms with sprays of foliage, to the other initials 'GR' with crown and stamped crescent, sprays of foliage and a cannon. See Withers, Harvey J. S., Swords and Sabres, Leicestershire, 2011, p.192. 755 grams, 93cm (36 1/2"). Property of an Essex Church Charity, UK; acquired by donation from a parishioner, 2016. The officer's version of the 1796 pattern sabre was lighter than that for other ranks; such weapons would have been used by light cavalry troops during the Peninsula War campaigns and at Waterloo. [No Reserve] Good condition.
