A 19th Century Japanese Meiji period gold lacquer Shibayama decorated five section inro, inlaid with carved mother of pearl and tortoiseshell chrysanthemums on a mottled gold ground, 10 x 5.5cm, fitted with wood ojime and a carved ivory Netsuke Okame mask, signed Homin, old collection labels.
Four 19th/early 20th century miniatures, various. Condition Report Some of the frames are bashed and fairly dirty. The round miniature with the dog is 5cm diameter. It appears to be on ivory and is fairly dirty and has a large scratch across the bottom half under the dog. Oval miniature of Burns is on ivory again and is well painted. One of the metal pieces holding the frame together is broken off. Oval of female is signed G. Roon? Frame has a couple of damages and the miniature itself is quite badly worn. Larger oval miniature, I believe it to be on ivory, slightly dirty beneath the glass. The frame has a white paint mark about 3cm. Unsigned but is generally in fairly good condition.
A large Moorcroft 'Pirouette Breeze' design Lamp Base, designed by Emma Bossoms, Circa 2002, of squat baluster form, tubeline decorated with budding and flowering branches, glazed in pink and purple and reserved against an ivory ground, mounted on wooden base, with shade, base 9in (23cm) high.
A fine late 17th century English ivory and silver pique walking stick handle, typically decorated with roundels and geometrical motifs and with pierced eyelet intended for fabric band. Mounted on a later Malacca cane with hallmarked silver ferrule. In good original state with some early losses to the pique work and some age cracks to the ivory.
A beautiful hunting knife dating: circa 1800 provenance: France Straight, single-edged blade with remains of engravings at the base; hilt of embossed silver with a small chain, ivory grip. Leather scabbard with silver mounts decorated en suite. Two suspension rings. dimensions: length 47.5 cm.
A rare and interesting shamshir dating: early 19th Century provenance: Persia Fine, yatagan-like, damask blade with "T"-back and thin fuller, featuring two gold-inlaid cartouches with characters in Arabic on one side; at the back remains of gilding, the base of the back with a silver plaque engraved with floral motifs; quillon with arms bent toward the blade, decorated with gold-inlaid racemes; ivory grip scales (probably replaced) with curved pommel provided with a hole, the central band of the grip engraved with net pattern. Leather scabbard sewed with iron thread, mounts engraved with net pattern, complete with two rings. dimensions: length 62,5 cm.
A beautiful kard dating: first quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Indopersia Straight, single-edged blade of fine, grey damask, the base engraved with inscriptions in Arabic and floral motifs, engraved at the back, with a raiser; smooth, damask hilt with ivory grip scales. Wooden scabbard with leather covering. dimensions: length 33 cm.
A kindjal dating: 19th Century provenance: Caucasia Straight, double-edged blade with a deep, asymmetrical groove; hilt with ivory grip scales finely decorated with gold filigree inlays depicting arabesque, the iron band decorated with gold-inlaid floral motifs, mount and rivets of nielloed, gilt and engraved silver. Without scabbard. dimensions: length 51.5 cm.
A kindjal dating: late 19th Century provenance: Caucasia Wide, straight, double-edged blade, ribbed at the tip and the base, featuring two thin fullers at the centre, the front surface decorated with gold-inlaid cartouches featuring inscriptions in Arabic characters, at the base small floral decorations and cartouches, in gold too; grip with walrus ivory grip scales (small damages and a restoration) held by two iron studs with festooned rosette, featuring gold inlays. Without scabbard. dimensions: length 52 cm.
A fine silver mounted kindjal dating: 19th Century provenance: Ottoman Empire Wide, straight, double-edged blade, stamped on both faces with a round mark; ivory grip featuring fluted decorations at the corners, provided with two fine, silver studs decorated with filigree rosettes having cabochon corals as petals. Antique, wooden scabbard with red velvet covering (probably later) with antique, silver mounts, cap with floral engravings, stamp and tughra; silver, stamped chape, the central mount decorated with floral motifs and cabochon coral; one ring, chain. dimensions: length 50 cm.
A fine kard dating: 19th Century provenance: Indopersia Curved, single -and long false-edged, damask blade, with strengthened tip and "T"-back, engraved with tiger and antelope at the forte; walrus ivory grip finely chiselled with figures and inscriptions; restored cap. dimensions: length 40 cm.
