The box has a horizontal split along one long side which has been reglued.
I* A Pocket Compensated Barometer, Thermometer and Compass Compendium, Circa 1868, by Dolland, with 1.75ins engraved and silvered dial, and ribbed drum-form case, the semi-circular mercurial barometer on an ivory register, in original caseCondition reportThe plastic bag test causes the needle to move. There is some light tarnishing to the silvered dial to the outer edge. This barometer retains its original lacquered finish to the case. The upper part of the case is engraved in black letter -"Arthur Cecil". The compass appears to work, the dial moving freely. The mercury barometer is intact. The ivory register has a small crack. The outer case is original. One side of the case below the hinge is stamped A, the other C, for Arthur Cecil.

The dial appears to be in good condition. The lacquered brass case is similarly in good condition. This lot comes with its original carrying case which is generally in good condition with just some scattered wear. The hinge is unbroken. Ivorine is not subject to the same export requirements as ivory.
I* A Mid 19th Century Mahogany Cased Stick Barometer and Thermometer by J. Cattaneo of Folkestone, with engraved ivory scale and vernier and alcohol thermometer, contained in plain mahogany case with moulded pediment and moulded edge, and with exposed cistern, 39.5ins highCondition ReportThe mercury tube and alcohol thermometer are in good condition, the glass remaining intact. The lower left corner of the case shows a small area of loss to veneer, the small lower moulding to the lower part of the mercury housing is loose, and the timber beneath this (the left end of which shows the missing veneer) is similarly loose at the left end. There is some light scattered fading to the case but the case appears to retain its original polished surface. The thermometer ivory scale has a small area of cracking in two places to its lower edge. The lower timber moulding is loose.
An Early 20th Century Kirman Paisley Silk Rug, woven in colours of navy blue, ivory and wine, the field filled with rows of hooked boteh on a navy blue ground within three stripe conforming borders, 63ins x 42insCondition ReportThis rug lies very flat on the floor, there is no sign of wear (low pile) or historic moth damage, all colours are vivid with no signs of fading, to each edge the binding is fully intact with no sign of fraying, the fringe has been trimmed to the bottom side and to the top side there are some areas of fringe missing but the binding is fully intact. Overall this rug is in good condition.
An Early to Mid-20th Century Kashan Carpet, woven in colours of ivory, navy blue and wine, with a bold central stylised floral medallion flanked by a pair of urns, with conforming spandrels, the field filled with trailing leaf and floral ornament, within seven striped borders filled with meandering vine pattern, 10ft 3ins x 6ft 9insCondition ReportThe carpet lies very flat on the floor, there are no signs of wear (low pile) or historic moth damage, the bindings to all four sides are fully intact with no fraying, the colours remain vivid with no sign of fading. Overall the carpet is in good condition.
