Pair of Chinese silk embroidered sleevebands, framed as one, late 19th/early 20th century, 24in. X 12 1/2 in. 61cm. X 32cm. The ivory silk damask ground joined vertically and embroidered in coloured silks with peonies and elaborate bats around a central circle of smaller bats and 'shou' motifs worked in Peking knot; within a narrow brocade ribbon border; outer border of dark blue silk embroidered in ivory and shades of blue with flowers and foliage. Tekke Turkmen 5 x 3 gul torba, Turkmenistan, late19th century, 1ft. 4in. X 3ft. 9in. 0.41m. X 1.14m. Small hole inner guard top edge centre; crude repair above this and to the right; lacking both selvedges; added wool braid to right side. Remains of woollen fringing to lower edge. Finely woven in velvety wool with a good colour range including two shades of dark green; soft yellow and ivory details enlivening the somewhat sombre palette.
