A large Japanese sectional ivory and bone Buddhist shrine, by Yushu/Hirokata, early 20th century, the densely carved and incised temple-like structure centered by a pair of hinged reticulated double doors, opening to reveal within a seated Buddhist triad in front a ritual offering on a stand, supported on a high-stepped, balustraded and galleried octagonal base, engraved with wrything dragons and lotus leaves, the roof surmounted by a finial in the form of a Amida Nyorai seated in meditation with his hands in dhyana mudra, signed on the base in a red-lacquer reserve Yushu/Hirokata, 76.5cm x 33.5cm
19th century French parlour guitar, labelled Madame R. Sidney Pratton, 38 Welbeck Street, Cavendish Square, London 1863, the open headstock with engraved brass tuning pegs and ivory buttons, the ebony fingerboard with seventeen frets, rosewood back and sides, mother of pearl inlaid sound hole, in a coffin hard case. Condition Report The guitar has only light scratches to it. No splits or repairs. In good condition. The case has a split to the top of the neck and much wear and tear!
Chinese carved ivory card case, carved in relief with crabs and fish, losses to the cover, 11.5cm high and 7.5cm wide. Condition Report The interior slip missing a large section. The cover has a section to the side that is detached, but present. When section is married with the cover there is still a small section missing to the back of the cover.
