Antique Victorian Silver Plate & Ivory Fruit/ Dessert Service Circa 1850's. 24 piece mahogany cased canteen of silver plate and carved ivory dessert/fruit knives and forks. Each knife blade and fork stem is marked H & S L (Hands and Sons 1850-1861) - Knives are 20cm in length (handle 8.5cm) Forks are 17 cm length (handle 8.5cm) Condition: The silver plate has some wear commensurate with age and use. An Indian sandalwood and sadeli work dressing table box of sarcophagus form, the hinged lid carved with various animals amidst foliage within chequer strung borders, opening to reveal fitted interior with various compartments and mirror to underside, the whole flanked by brass handles on brass bun feet, width 32cm, depth 22cm, height 12cmGenerally the condition is very good.The flanking handles are likely replacements and have splits to the plates. See extra images.There is a missing ivory disc to the interior. It has probably been professionally cleaned.
