R...Harrington (1800-1882) Still Life of a Fish, Rod and Reel on a River Bank, possibly a Rainbow Trout. Inscribed with the artist's name by a later hand on the reverse of the frame, oil on board, 15cm by 30.5cm (6in by 12in) *R.Harrington came from Carlisle and was a pupil of Abraham Cooper. He generally painted portraits of horses, cattle and poultry and some of his works were engraved by Charles Hunt, others were lithographed by Thomas Fairland but all were published by R.Harrington of Carlisle, presumably himself. His work appears to be of some quality with good landscape backgrounds painted behind the animals, although a little nave. His does not appear to have exhibited

Vancouver on the North West Coast of America, M. de la Perouse on the Coast of Tartary, together with every other improvement collected from various navigators and travellers to the present time, London, made & sold by J & W Cary, Strand, March 1st 1816, with corrections and additions to 1833", finely detailed, showing rivers, mountains, desserts, towns and cities (cracks to paper and body and overall uniform fading/yellowing); and the Celestial Globe "Carys New Celestial Globe on which are laid down the whole of the stars nebulae & C, contained in the astronomical works of the Revd. F Wollaston. F. R. S. de la Caille Herschel, Heyelius Mayer, Flamsteed, Bradley & C. London made & sold J & W Cary, Strand, March 1816" (with explanation) below, the equatorial in degrees, hours and minutes, the ecliptic graduated in days of the month and of the houses of the zodiac, the constellations depicted my mythical beasts and figures, the stars to nine orders of magnitude with nebulae (numerous cracks and several poorly executed repairs), each raised on four mahogany quadrant to three inswept legs ending in castors, 113cm high

Captain Reginald Francis Eyre, RN, succeeded to the Sawston estate and had a Royal License in 1930 to assume the additional arms and name of Huddleston, becoming Captain R F Eyre-Huddleston.
