The equipment is of a highly technical nature. The latest type of equipment (PF) has been received while the Battery is deployed in the defence of Naples. The importance of the Docks made it imperative that a complete mastery of the new equipment be obtained in the shortest possible time. Sergt Woodman showed the greatest enthusiasm and by his example inspired the detachment. Training on the equipment had to take place in addition to the normal operational commitments, but owing to Sergt Woodman’s example, a very high standard of both training and maintenace was achieved in quick time. Sergt Woodman also set a magnificent example to all O’s F.C. by his coolness in action during heavy raids on Naples”.
