The tiles are sealed into the frame therefore the backs cannot be inspected but the faces of the tiles show no signs of damage or restoration.

An unusual 5 inch gauge wooden and metal model of the LBSR Peacock class 2-4-0 locomotive and tender No.8 Isfield , built by the late Mr F Roach in 1895 assisted by his father. Mr Roach who was station Master at Brighton and retired in 1947. Model took 16 months to build. The locomotive has much detailing including detailed rivet-work, brake gear, steps and hand irons. The cab with regulator, water sight-glass and direction control lever. Tender with coal and tool boxes sign written Driver. R Dyer. Fireman. J Barber. The model finished in traditional livery and set on a display track in its original glazed mahogany display case having turned corner columns on bun feet with removable top. Case dimensions: Length 135cm. Depth 30cm. Height 50cm. Schedule of materials used. The main components are of pitch pine with wheels constructed from mahogany. Some steel and brass work. * Provenance: Purchased Lot 203 Christies London 5th of November 2003 at a cost of £1,567.31 Original receipt comes with the model. Also letter from the builder.
A fine exhibition quality and detailed model of the Lowestoft steam drifter Diana LT 593, built by Mr Gordon Drew of Highnam Gloucestershire over a period of six years and fitted with gas fired Cheddar Proteus live steam plant. The hull constructed from copper stakes, brass ribs and riveted copper plate with outstanding detailing including wheel house, bulk heads, planked decking and fine deck fittings to include ladders, masks with rigging and sails, life boat, oars, lifebuoy, wicker baskets and chain work. Model length 148cm. Beam 36cm. Height to top of front mask 87cm. * Awards: The model won the 'Steam or Motor Vessel' Championship cup at The Wembley Model Engineer Exhibition 1969. Also illustrated on the front cover of the French magazine 'R C Marine' November 2000. Boiler History: Cheddar Models Boiler No. CHM 442. A well-engineered 5 inch gauge model of a Great Western Railway County Class 4-4-0 tender locomotive No 3808 County Limerick , built by Mr R Curtis of Clase, Swansea, the silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including water sight glass, pressure gauge, regulator, direction control, drip oilers and lever operated fire door. Chassis with twin outside cylinders, Stephenson s internal valve gear, cylinder drain cocks, fluted motion, injector and eccentric driven axle water pump. Six wheel GWR 1070 3500 gallon Swindon tender having fitted hand feed pump, fitted tool boxes, vents, rear lamps, steps and hand rails. The model finished in Great Western Railway green and black lined livery with crest and fitted with couplings, vacuum hoses, steps, hand-irons and detailed rivet work. Length 159cm. Cab width 24cm. The model comes together with a display track. -393 * No boiler History available * This model County was the last new GWR 4-4-0 design and by far the most modern, with inside frames and outside cylinders. They were designed as a part of George Jackson Churchward's standardisation plan, but were found to have a front end too powerful for the wheel arrangement and all were withdrawn by the early 1930s. They were designed, in part, for the Hereford to Shrewsbury LNWR line over which the GWR had running powers, but on which they were expressly forbidden to use 4-6-0 locomotives. The 4-4-0 Counties were in effect a shortened GWR 2900 Class, providing engines powerful enough for the trains but with the requisite four coupled wheels.
A rare and well-engineered 7 ¼ inch gauge model of a L 4-4-0 tender locomotive No 2663 'George the Fifth', built from Bassett Lowke castings around 1912 and rebuilt by Mr R Fenwick in the1980 s to early 1990 s with copper boiler Serial number 87189 built by Swindon Boilers. The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including pressure gauge, water sight gauge with shut off cocks, regulator, direction control, blower, two injectors, safety valve, steam brake and blow down valve. The chassis having twin inside cylinders 1 ¾ bore by 3 stroke with Greenly-Joy valve gear, two injectors, foot plate controlled cylinder drain cocks, fluted motion and fitted mechanical lubricating system. The model finished in black and red lined livery with cab-side number plate, George the Fifth' name plate and six wheel tender with driving seat, foot rests, hand feed pump and water cocks, fitted hand-rails, steps and vacuum hose. Total length of locomotive and tender 214cm. Cab width 32cm. Height of locomotive at cab 50cm. Boiler history: Swindon Boiler Serial No 87189. Certificate dated the 8th of March 1987 Hydrostatic test pressure 200 psi. Working pressure 100 psi. Passed boiler history from the February 1995 to 2012 available for inspection at the auction rooms on view days. The locomotive has not been run since 2009. No current boiler history available.
