A pair of Meissen allegorical figures of 'Autumn' and 'Winter' circa 1755 modelled by F.E. Meyer, 'Autumn' as a Bacchanalian youth holding a goblet and grapes, clad in a robe decorated with indianische Blumen, with a hare hung fron the strap, and leaning on a gilt-edged rococo urn encrusted with fruiting vines, 'Winter' as a bearded man with a fur-lined purple cloak painted with purple and blue flower sprigs, a goblet and bottle by a small fire on a pedestal to his side, from which grows a branch at the rear, a brazier at his feet, the high scroll-moulded bases edged in gilding crossed swords marks in underglaze-blue 22.5cm., 8.875in. some minor chips (2) Another example of 'Winter' is published by R. Ruckert, Meissener Porzellan, no.991, where it is attributed to Friedrich Elias Meyer.

a silver hound’s head stirrup cup, maker’s mark C&R over C (not traced), London 1925, naturalistically cast and chased, engraved to the collar George William from his Godfather Raoul Millais, March 28th 1934, the interior gilt, 9cm (3.5in) high, 205g (6.5 oz) Provenance: from the home of a late gentleman of title, Worcestershire raoul Millais (1901-1999) was the grandson of the Victorian artist Sir John Everett Millais. He was a very successful and accomplished equestrian artist and, to quote Sally Mitchell in her Dictionary of Equestrian Artists, In working on hunting commissions he was able to hunt with almost all the packs in England. see lot 8 for a painting by Millais from the same collection

A Victorian lacquered brass binocular microscope, late 19th century, the two-section body tube with rack and pinion focus adjustment for the two eye-pieces, micrometer fine focusing and a prism to the double nose-piece, mounted with rack and pinion adjustment above a stage with mechanical subject positioning including calibrated ring for degrees of rotation to the circumference, with pivoted plano-concave mirror and condensing tube beneath, the limb pivoted on two Doric column turned uprights with triform foot signed R&J. A well engineered 4 1/2 inch scale model of the 1920s Wallis & Steevens Simplicity road roller, built from Plastow castings the engine with copper diagonal boiler with fittings including water gauge, pressure gauge, safety, injector, clack and other valves. Engine details include single cylinder with 2 1/4 in stroke by 1 1/2 in bore, drain cocks, mechanical lubricator, Stephensonss link reverse gear, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, Chassis details include solid roll wheels, belly tank supporting coal tenders, water lifter. The model remains unpainted and has a makers plaque Wallis & Steevens Ltd Basingstoke.Hampshire. Boiler built by Mr C R Bushell of London in 1992. 59cm wide, 94cm high, 137cm long, No other boiler history available. The engine formed part of the collection of the late Ronald Phipps of Kent.
