A post 1902 RN officer’s sword, straight slender fullered blade 31”, etched with R Arms, and crowned fouled anchor within rope bordered oak wreath panels, regulation gilt half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor, and with turn down side guard which locks to scabbard, lion’s head pommel, wirebound sharkskin grip, with blue and gilt dress knot, in its brass mounted leather scabbard and oilskin cover; together with black leather sword belt and slings, gilt WBC. Near VGC, the blade retaining virtually all original polish.
A scarce post 1902 officer’s sword of the Royal Indian Marines, almost straight, fullered blade 31½”, by J R Gaunt & Son Ltd, Late Edward Thurkle, Denmark St, Soho, London, etched on both sides with crown, star and fouled anchor with “R I M”, in scrolled fenestrated panels, naval style brass half basket hilt incorporating crowned fouled anchor with “RIM”, turn down inner portion which locks to scabbard, tall pommel and fluted backstrap, wirebound (slightly AF) fishskin grip, with gilt knot (worn) in its brass mounted leather scabbard with 2 rings. GC, the blade retaining most original polish (small pitting patches to back edge). Plate 9
A Saxony sidearm, c 1845, SE blade 18½”, slightly swollen at hatchet point, solid iron hilt with shallow S shaped crossguard, the grip ribbed on the inner edge, plain pommel and backstrap, in its iron mounted leather scabbard with small stud chape and iron locket with belt tang, the tang and crossguard marked en suite “123 R.7.58”. A WWI officer’s sword of The Royal Artillery, almost straight fullered blade 35”, by Wilkinson no 50434 (for 1916) on backstrap, etched with crowned R Arms, Union wreath with GVR cypher and motto, cannon, winged lightning and “Royal Artillery”, plated triple bar hilt, stepped pommel, chequered backstrap, wirebound fishskin grip, with knot, in its leather FS scabbard with frog. Near VGC the blade retaining its original finish, (rust speckles to hilt, mostly on the inside). Plate 9
A good .40-65” Springfield Model 1873 “trap door” sporting rifle, number 25904, 49½” overall, heavy octagonal barrel 30” stamped at breech “40/65” and with folding ladder rearsight stamped “R S Lawrence/ Patented/ Feb 15th 1859” and folding 2 position fore sight, the hinge up breech block stamped “Model 1873” over eagle head, crossed swords and “US”, lock stamped with eagle and “US/ Springfield”, walnut fullstock with inset ebony fore end cap and chequered fore end panels and wrist, with plain steel mounts, butt plate tang stamped “US” and with 4 piece cleaning rod in butt compartment. This item is the owners handbook for the Bentley Continental R and is TSD5155. it is designed for motor oars from VIN SCBZB03D5NCX42001. This handbook was published by Bentley Motors Limited, Crewe, Cheshire, England and printed in England by The Cavendish Press Limited in 1992. It measures approximately 8 3/4 x 6 inches and has 129 pages. This handbook is black with the Bentley Vlï¬nged B in red on the front cover. This is not a manual but is an owners handbook for the vehicle. lt has a black ribbon as a page marker. This handbook is new and has never been issued to a vehicle. This item has once been sold from the Cal West Collection.
