Humphrey Mark Wilson was born Williton, West Somerset in 1912. The son of Bernard William Wilson, whose medals are also in the sale. Humphrey was commissioned in the Indian Army on December 3rd 1933, as a Second Lieutenant. He subsequently transferred to the Norfolk Regiment and was promoted to Captain on September 3rd 1940. Captain Humphrey was awarded the Military Cross in 1945 for the following deeds; 'During the period February 1st to April 30th 45, this officer was outstanding on several occasions by his courage, his enthusiasm and his tirelessness. During the battle of Lingen on April 5th stiff fighting was met in house clearing for possession of the town. This offr was ordered to take temporary comd of a coy whose had been wounded and which had lost several cas. This coy's adv was held up by an enemy strong point from which three Spandau posns comd all approaches. Stalking fwd himself under point-blank fire from one of this Spandau's, he reached a point about 30 yds distant from which, with his rifle, he despatched the firer concerned. Moving around all his subunits, though under close-range fire most of the time, he quickly reorganised the coy for a further attack and instilled into them fresh confidence. Under his inspiring leadership, the flanking movement against this strong point met with overwhelming success. Yet again, during the battle of Brinkum on 15/16 Apr this offr's imperturbable cheerfulness and disregard of personal danger had a most marked effect on one of the coys. Which was temporarily checked by a strongly defended factory. Moving down with a fresh section of crocodiles, he made a recce from Op to Op, each time coming under short-range Spandau and sniper fire, so that the crocodiles could get off to the best possible start and be sure of the best routes to take in their advance. As a result of this, the attack took on a renewed turn of speed and opposition was shortly completely overcome. This officer has been 2IC of this Bn since D-Day. Throughout this period, he has never failed to show a degree of courage, unselfishness, of cheerfulness and spirit that have directly influenced several engagements in which the Bn has been involved'.. In the post-war years, he served in South East Asia and Palestine, earning a two-bar GSM. As a Major, he served in the Korean War and retired in 1961. Major Wilson died in 2003.

1990 Bentley Mulsanne SMake: Bentley Model: Mulsanne SYear: 1990Mileage: 98600VIN: SCBZS00A0MCH34061Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: H504JWCTransmission: automatic The Bentley Mulsanne S was introduced in 1987, effectively as a non-turbocharged version of the Bentley Turbo R. Many of its details were similar to the Turbo R, including the alloy wheels, interior and firmer suspension, intended to give a more sporting ride. The Mulsanne S stayed in production until 1992. Finished in Balmoral green with beige interior, this example is part of a deceased estate. Registered in September 1990, it has been in a garage, unused, for eight years, with its last MoT expiring in August 2014. The car starts and runs, with 98,600 miles recorded on the odometer. The Bentley comes with its V5, two keys and a remote fob, owner's handbook and service book, plus a copy of the death certificate and will of its last owner for transfer of ownership purposes. Also comes with its original tool-kit and jack.

This 2004 example, registered in March of that year, has covered 103,780 miles and has an MoT (with no advisories) valid until the end of August 2022. The service book has nine stamps up until 76,190 miles (18 April 2014). There's also a spare set of keys. The paperwork folder includes the V5C (recording three former keepers), various recent invoices for work including a new battery during 2018 and two new Falken tyres later on in the same year, and a selection of MoT certificates which, combined with the service book, help confirm the indicated mileage. 2007 Bentley Arnage TMake: Bentley Model: Arnage TYear: 2007Mileage: 35399VIN: SCBLF45F87CH12528Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: D13SCHTransmission: automatic Bentley's Arnage range was in production from 1998 to 2009, with the two mainstream models from 2002 being the R and T. Of the two, the T was the most sporty, with extra power extracted from its 6750cc V8 engine when compared to the R. This 2007 Arnage T was registered in June of that year, with a price tag of £175,000. Finished in Beluga Black with 19in two-piece polished alloy 'Blade' wheels and a Beluga Black pleated leather interior and carbon fibre inserts on the dash instead of the usual wood, the recorded mileage is 35,399. Eight former registered keepers are recorded on the V5C. The history folder contains the original document wallets complete with sat nav operating instructions, warranty information and car phone guide, plus owner's handbook and service booklet stamped up to 24,977 miles in January 2016. There are MoT certificates from 2014, 2016, 2017. The current MoT is valid until the end of September 2022. There's a small selection of bills, with the most recent - from August 2021 - being for a battery. In May 2021, there was £1650 of paintwork and machine polishing. A big bonus for a new owner is a print-out from supplying dealer Jack Barclay detailing the full specification of the car, with all options listed. The car's overall condition is very good, given that there's been recent attention to the paintwork. There is some orange peel paint reaction around the left-hand side of the rear window, but this is only noticeable very close up. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 22ND OCTOBER BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

EWENNY POTTERY MODEL OF A PERCHED PARROT in red slip with sgraffito and yellow, brown and green over glaze, inscribed 'Polly fach bert', 22.5cms high Provenance: private collection north Wales, see Figure 125 'Ewenny Potteries, Potters & Pots' by Gwyneth & Ieuan R Evans Comments: very nice example in the lighter coloured glaze with clear decoration, no damage, rare
AN IMPORTANT EWENNY POTTERY SLIPWARE WASSAIL BOWL & COVER, DATED 1823 glazed in yellow over red with sgraffito decoration, the base with seventeen loops decorated with zig-zags, repeated interlocking circles below the rim and below the handles the inscription 'THOMAS ARTHUR maker Ewenny, Glamorganshire, South Wales, November 26th, 1823' below the inscription a naive scrolling trail, and with a trail of flowers to the opposite side, the sgraffito decorated domed cover with loops and a prowling fox, the flat top adorned with birds and beehives or hay-cocks, 29cms high Provenance: from the collection of Gwyneth and the late Ieuan Evans, purchased privately by the vendor, to accompany a page from an old auction catalogue with an illustration and description of the bowl (possibly 1960s/70s), the maker is likely to be Thomas Arthur (1792-1853), a resident of nearby Corntown, who was registered as a potter in the 1851 Census (please see page 41 of Ewenny Potteries, Potters & Pots by Gwyneth & Ieuan R Evans) Auctioneer's Note: Wassail bowls were used in an ancient custom in south Wales around New Year, when groups of revellers would travel from house to house wishing happiness, health and well-being to their neighbours. In Glamorgan the wassail tradition was closely associated with The Mari Lwyd ritual, where a horse's skull was fixed to a ribbon-decorated pole and promenaded around the well-wishers. The bowls were usually filled with spiced ale. The communal nature of the wassail custom is highlighted by the multiple handles which may have been decorated with ribbons for the event. In the South Wales News of April 30th 1892 a report refers to William Williams, a potter at Claypits who made wassail bowls in the 1820s for parishes at a cost of one guinea each Comments: on the crest of each loop on the body would have sat a chicken (one remains), one loop handle missing (should be 18), losses to cover include five missing loops, extremities and finial, examination in person highly recommended. Believed to be the earliest Ewenny wassail bowl to appear at auction in recent years.
