Thistle wreath mounted with silver Coronet, HRH Duke of Albany’s cypher and stag’s head in high relief. The wreath bears 15 honours up to “AFGHANISTAN”. Original stout pin to reverse. VGC

Household Cavalry State Trumpeter’s Ceremonial trumpet banner.A fine scarce Elizabeth II example. Ground of crimson damask silk with gold and silver embroidery depicting the Royal Arms to centre flanked by two winged angels and the whole encircled by floral inlaid bullion, the crown flanked by “E” and “R”. To each corner is a bullion Union device incorporating the Rose of England, the Thistle of Scotland the Shamrock of Ireland. The banner is edged with fine gold twisted thread fringe. Minor service wear, the bullion and coloured silks remain bright. VGC Framed and glazed in attractive Hogarth frame approx 30 x 26 inches

Crimson Morocco backing with purse (holds 1907 penny). Minor service wear. VGC

Medals loose Contact wear.Private John Cox enlisted into the Royal Irish Fusiliers in 1881. He landed in Egypt in August 1882 and remained here until posting back to the UK on the 12th November 1882. He saw service in the East Indies before discharge in 1893.

Comprising: Queen’s South Africa Medal, four clasps “Belmont”, “Modder River”, “Orange Free State”, “Transvaal”, (ERASED CLASPS RECONSTITUTED FOR DISPLAY), King’s South Africa Medal, two clasps “South Africa 1901”, “South Africa 1902”, “1609 SERJT J. COLES L.N.LANC REGT”, 1914/15 Star, “18514 C.Q.M.SJT J. COLES L.N.LANC R”, British War Medal Victory Medal, “WO CL 2 L.N. LANC R.”, Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (EVIIR), “1609 C. SJT L.N. LANCS REGT”, Meritorious Service Medal (GVR), “18514 R.Q.M.SJT 8/L.N.LANC R”. Group mounted for display. ... Accompanied by a quantity of research.Warrant Officer James Cole was born in 1873 and brought up in the Union Workhouse Portsea Hampshire, at the age of 14 he enlisted into the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment. After various postings he landed in South Africa in February 1899, some 8 months before the declaration of war with the Boers. He saw action at Modder River and Belmont and his name appeared in Despatches on the 10th September 1901. He returned to the UK in August 1902 and was awarded the Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal. He was posted to the permanent staff of the 3rd Militia Battalion and in 1907 after 21 years service with the Colours was discharged. In 1914 he once again volunteered for service with his old Regiment and with the rank of CQMS of the 8th Bn landed in France on the 25th September 1915. He returned to the UK in early 1918 and was to see a further posting to France in 1919 before his final discharge in March 1919. He was awarded the MSM for services (LG 29/8/18) this being one of only 38 awarded to the Regiment during the Great War. He died at the age of 75 in 1948 at Chorley Lancashire.

Bronze Memorial Plaque “Harry Stanley Paxman”. ... The group is accompanied by a British War Medal and Victory Medal awarded to “R.3098 E.L. PAXMAN AB RNVR.”.Private Harry Stanley Paxman landed in France with the 2nd Bn Royal Sussex Regiment on the 10th November 1914. He was Killed in Action on the 9th May 1915. He had formally served as a Bandsman with the Northamptonshire Regiment.

Scowcroft was a native of Bolton and enlisted into the East Lancashire Regiment on the 4th September 1914. Landing in France with the Regiment on the 31st July 1915. He was wounded during September 1916, and returned to the front again wounded during March 1917. He was later attached to the North Staffordshire Regiment and survived the war.

Mounted for display.Private Alfred Brown’s announcement of the award of the Military Medal appeared in the London Gazette on the 17th June 1919 and he is shown as a native of Fenchouses Co. Durham. He originally enlisted into the Yorkshire Regiment and landed at Gallipoli on the 14th July 1915. His regimental numbers and regiments are confirmed.

BRIG”Private Richard Elford enlisted in 1908 he landed in France on the 22nd September 1914, he later served with the Royal Engineers and was discharged with the issue of a Silver War Badge as a result of wounds on the 28th September 1916.

WW1 Royal Navy Armed Merchant Cruiser Distinguished Service Medal Group of Six Medals.Awarded to Chief Petty Officer Henry Charles Endacott who at the time of the award 1915 was serving onboard the Armed Merchant Cruiser HMS Ebro part of the 10th Cruiser Squadron. Comprising: Distinguished Service Medal (GV Admiral bust), “121488 H.C. Endacotte CPO HMS EBRO”, Khedive Sudan Medal (Private naming) “H.C. ENDACOTT PO CL1 HMS SCOUT”, 1914/15 Star, “CPO RN”, British War Medal, Victory Medal, “CPO RN”, Royal Navy Long Service & Good Conduct Medal (GVR Admiral Bust) “CPO HMS PEMBROKE”. The group is mounted as originally worn, please not the surname to the DSM is spelt with a “E”, the others are without the “E”. London Gazette for the award of the DSM 31st March 1916 “in recognition of their services in the Patrol Cruisers, under the command of Rear-Admiral Sir Dudley R. S. De Chair, K.C.B., M.V.O., during the period ending the 31st December, 1915”. Chief Petty Officer Henry Charles Endacott was born in Wenhaston, Suffolk in 1867, he volunteered for the RN on the 30th November 1882. He served on a number of ships and in 1895 has posted to HMS Scout and is confirmed as serving with her when the ship was awarded 149 Khedive’s Sudan medal without clasp. He was transferred to the RNR in 1906 and was recalled for service at the outbreak of the Great War, originally at Pembroke he was posted to HMS Ebro on her commissioning in April 1915. This ship was a converted Liner of the The Royal Mail Steam Packet Company she was completed in 1914 and had only sailed one voyage before she was requisitioned, by the Royal Navy to serve as Armed Merchant Cruiser with eight 6-inch guns, depth charges and mines. The ships were integrated in the 10th Auxiliary cruiser squadron, where she served as an Atlantic convoy escort throughout the war. CPO Endacott received his DSM from the hand of Vice Admiral Reginald GO Tupper MVO on the 16th April 1916. He would remain with Ebro throughout her service, leaving her in January 1919. He received his discharge a month later. He died on the 6th March 1957 whilst living in Northampton.
