Nameplate, GOPSAL HALL, ex GWR Collett Hall Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in 1931 and numbered 4999. Allocated to Newton Abbot, Southall, Penzance, Laira, Bristol Bath Road, Cardiff Canton and 82B St Philips Marsh from where it was withdrawn in September 1962 and scrapped at Cashmore's Newport. Named after the Hall that stood at Atherstone Warwickshire. In lovely original condition with R IN No 4999 Lot 268 stamped in the back indicating this is the Right hand plate..
Nameplate PITCHFORD HALL. Ex GWR Collet 4-6-0 Hall Class Locomotive built at Swindon in 1929 and numbered 4953. Allocated to Swindon, St Philips Marsh, Cardiff Canton and 88L Cardiff East Dock from where it was withdrawn in May 1963. In lightly cleaned original condition, rear stamped R No 4953 Lot No 254 indicating this is the Right hand plate. nameplate comes with original BR purchase receipt dated January 1964. Pitchford Hall is near to Shrewsbury. The locomotive is currently based on the Epping & Ongar Railway.
Shedplate 87C Danygraig 1949 to January 1960 for steam, March 1964 totally. This ex R&SBR shed was home to an exotic collection of pre grouping tank engines throughout it BR days when its total allocation was never more than 30 locos. In restored condition, rear and edge with clear Swindon casting marks. Vendor removed it from Pannier tank 8724.

The Holy Bible Containing the Old Testament and the New, title within engraved architectural border, lacking 2N3 (NT title), Cambridge, Printed by John Field, 1661, bound with The Book of Common-Prayer, ownership inscription of Mary Browne to title, dated 1700, D gathering with worm hole to head, [Wing B3630], Printed by John Bill and Christopher Barker, 1665, bound with The Whole Book of Psalms, [Wing B2497], Printed by T. R. for the Company of Stationers, 1669, bookplate of Sir Martin Browne Ffolkes, ink manuscript history of the Browne family to rear free endpaper, trimmed at head, shaving the occasional headline, the odd marginal chip or short tear running into text, some light toning and soiling, contemporary red morocco, covers elaborately tooled in gilt with wide floral borders and central foliate lozenge, spine gilt with six raised bands, repaired at corners and spine ends, a little rubbed, mostly to joints and corners, 8vo. ⁂ The Bible appears to be a variant of Wing B2265, without pagination and with the engraved general title unsigned. The Browne family history contains an account of the knighthood of Sir William Browne, President of the College of Physicians: "it was done in the Bedchamber for the greater Honour. The Court being in Mourning, I was supplied with a black velvet suit by the President of the Royal Society".

Cookery.- Lamb (Patrick) Royal cookery: or the compleat court-cook. Containing the choicest receipts in all the several branches of cookery, third edition, 40 engraved bills of fare, most folding, final advertisement f., a couple of folding plates little frayed (without loss), water-stained, occasional spotting, lightly browned, contemporary speckled calf, gilt, sympathetically rebacked, corners repaired, some water-staining, rubbed, [Bitting p.271 (note) ; Maclean p.88; Oxford pp.52-53 (note) ; Simon BG 939], 8vo, Printed for E. and R. Nutt; and H. Lintot, at the Cross Keys, against St. Dunstan's Church in Fleet-Street, 1731.⁂ The rare reissue of the third edition (1726) with a new title page. Lamb was the most celebrated of the court-cooks of the seventeenth century and served five monarchs from Charles II to Queen Anne.
London.- Bridewell Hospital.- List of the Governors of the hospitals of Bridewell and Bethlem, and of their benefactions, spotted, lightly browned, modern drab wrappers, rare, Printed by Thomas Parker, No. 71, Wood-Street, Cheapside, 1792 § Waddington (William) Considerations on the original and proper objects of the Royal Hospital of Bridewell. Addressed to the governors, first edition, half-title (bound after title), occasional spotting, lightly browned, modern blue wrappers, Printed at the Philanthropic Reform, St. George's Fields, for R. Bickerstaff, 1798; and 3 others, 18th & early 19th century works on the same, 8vo (5)⁂ A very good group of works on this former residence of Henry VIII, which later became a hospital, prison and workhouse. It stood in Bridge Street on the banks of the River Fleet in the City of London. In 1700 it became the first prison to appoint a doctor. The name Bridewell was adopted by other prisons, and often refers to a city's main prison, usually close to a court.
Boswell.- Martin (Rev. Samuel) An epistle, in verse, occasioned by the death of James Boswell, Esquire, of Auchinleck, first edition, wormholes to last couple of ff., affecting a few letters, but without loss of sense, outer ff. with some tearing / fraying to outer margin and lightly soiled, some spotting or staining, lightly browned, stitched, as issued (stitching renewed), Edinburgh & London, Printed by Mundell and Son, R.
