King George VI and Queen Elizabeth (The Queen Mother) 1944 Signed Official Photographs, the official photograph by Peter North of King George VI signed in ink ‘George R.I 1944’. Housed in wooden glazed frame. The official photograph of Queen Elizabeth, The Queen Mother was taken by Dorothy Wilding and is also signed in ink ‘Elizabeth R 1944’. Both photographs are housed in matching wooden glazed frames, the top part of the frame for Queen Elizabeth is damaged and in need of repair. Both signatures remain clear. Scarce to find wartime signed photographs of the royals. Frames measure 39 ½ x 26 ½ cms.

George Fountain landed in France on 27th July 1915, later he transferred to the Labour Corps (156438) and was discharged to Class Z Army Reserve on 27th March 1919.

FUS.”, 1939-45 Star medal, Africa Star medal, France & Germany Star medal, Defence medal, War medal 1939-45, Special Constabulary Long Service medal, GVI 2nd type, League of Frontiersmen Meritorious Service medal, impressed naming “CAPT J.A. RICHARDS”, League of Frontiersmen Loyal Long Service and Good Conduct medal, engraved naming “LT. COL. J.A. RICHARDS”. Group mounted as worn with small metal fixing rings on the reverse. John Albert Richards from Balham, London served with the 25th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (Frontiersmen) arriving in Africa with the Battalion on 4th May 1915. This is one of only 2 British Battalions that served through the whole of the war in the East African theatre arriving in Africa on 4th May 1915 and returning to England at the end of 1917. The Battalion was disbanded mid-1918.

Distinguished Conduct medal, London Gazette 17th April 1917 - G/3396 L./,Sjt. G. Rowe, Midd'x R. - ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He took command of his company, led them to their objective, and continued in command until relieved by an officer two days later. He has previously done fine work.’ George Rowe was from Shadwell, London and he served in France from 25th July 1915. He was discharged unfit for further service due to wounds on 12th November 1918 and was issued with a Silver War Badge. 15 Distinguished Conduct medals were awarded to the 12th Duke of Cabridge’s Own (Middlesex) Regiment during the Great War.
2x Airship R.101 Menu Cards, dated 6 November 1929 for Luncheon and Wine List, hand typed. Prepared for the Conference on Dominion Legislation members after they toured the R.101 at Cardington. According to the Times (7 Nov 1929), the health of the R101 was proposed by Mr. Ernest Lapointe, Minister of Justice for Canada. Previously part of the David Kirsch Collection.

CHILTON LEIC. R.” Group mounted for wearing with a space at the start of the bar suggesting a medal is missing. Lot also includes an R.A.O.B. Grand Lodge of England medal, the reverse engraved “BRO. A.D. CHILTON, BUENO VISTA, LODGE 4841” and miniature medal bar with 3 medals and some additional ribbons present. Long Service and Good conduct medal announced in Army Orders April 1938.
Sole Entitlement Victorian Army Long Service & Good Conduct Medal to the Royal Engineers, Army Long Service and Good Conduct medal, VR, 3rd issue, small letter reverse, impressed naming “3368 CORPL R. BLACKBOURN, RL ENGRS” 1 small edge knock. 20 year old Richard Blackbourn from Hull attested for the Royal Engineers on 7th August 1855. Her served for 21 years and 16 days of which 11 years and 183 days were spent in Gibraltar with the 25th Company. His Long Service medal was confirmed in in Aug 1875 and he was discharged on 22nd August 1876 with this being his only medal entitlement.
Medal Group of Three to a Private in the Northamptonshire Yeomanry who then Served as an Officer in the Home Guard During the Second World War, British War and Victory medals, “1956 PTE. C.R. GREEN NORTH’N YEO”, Defence medal in named carboard box of issue, “MAJOR C R GREEN, 18 HAWTHORN ROAD, KETTERING, NORTHANTS” with issue slip for a single medal. With Great War period photograph of Trooper Green in uniform on horseback, some loss to the top of the photo. Charles Reginald Green was born on 1st December 1896 in Far Cotton, Northampton. He was awarded a pair of medals for his Great War service and post war he worked for the railway, information with the medals indicates he was a Ticket Inspector at Kettering station. During the Second World War he served as a Major in the Home Guard. He died in Kettering in April 1970.
Queens South Africa Medal to the 1st Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, medal with two clasps Talana and Defence of Ladysmith. Awarded to ‘4468 PTE G CUNNINGTON 1: LEIC R’. Ghost dates to the reverse. Impressed naming. Georg Cunnington, a Farm Labourer from Kings Cliffe, Stamford, Lincolnshire, attested for service in the Leicestershire Regiment at Leicester on 27th September 1895. He spent 7 years with the colours and 5 years in the Army Reserve, promoted Corporal on 3rd March 1902 he was discharged on 26th September 1911. He served in South Africa from 24th September 1897 until 16th December 1900 and is confirmed as entitled to the Queens medal with these 2 clasps.

LAW R.E.M.E.”, Malta George Cross 50th Anniversary Commemorative medal. Group mounted as worn on a pin back ribbon bar. Served with the 2nd Battalion Royal West Kent Regiment during the Palestine campaign, 6344149 S.J Law is shown as being wounded on Casualty List 1358, 2nd February 1944. The Efficiency medal was announced on List 172, 29th May 1992. Due to the 53 year span between qualifying for the Palestine medal and the issue of the Efficiency medal we are unsure if this is a group to one person or a family group to 2 recipients.
