RICHARD SIBBS DD.(puritan pilgrim) and Richard Baker. Book two-sermons upon the first words of Christ last sermon -John XIIII, being also the last sermons of Richard Sibbs, preached to the Honourable Society of Grays Inn, June 21st and 28th 1635, who the next Lords day following died and rested from all his labours. Printed by Thomas Harper, London for Lawrence Chapman and are to be sold at his shop in Holborne at Chancery Lane End dated 1636, the frontis signed in ink and of the period ex libris R Bateman. By family repute this book belonged to Robert Bateman (1560-1644) who was a merchant adventurer and politician who was elected MP for the city of London in 1621 and also sat in the house of commons between 1614-1626. He also was the treasurer of the East India Company, and an eminent merchant in London's South Sea Bubble period. He was also master of the Skinners Company in 1620, in association with his own cloth business bound together in this tome, meditations and disquisitions upon the Lord's prayer by Sir Richard Baker, knight of London. He wrote this book whilst he was in fleet prison, where he eventually died after being locked up here because of debts to the Crown. Printed by Anne Griffin, and are to be sold by Anne Bovler at the sign of the marigold in Pauls churchyard 1636. This book was printed in the same year that some of the puritan Pilgrim Fathers, Standish and others at Plymouth rock, New England left to set up a new colony in Massachusetts. Not original boards or bindings, interior in good condition considering its age and use over the past 400 years

Tucker & Co (price 6p) where these two items feature as lot 744 on p.48, together with a Bill of Sale dated January 1912 from John E. Pritchard & Co Auctioneers Bristol, for lots purchased by A.W. Page Esq. for lots including 744 (£5 5/- 0d, total bill £31 12/- 6d) with signed and stamped receipt of funds dated Jan 30 1912 as Provenance (4) Condition: George III tipstaff in good condition with minor dints commensurate with age and use including some wear to wooden handle. William IV example with extensive losses to top of wooden handle (approximately 80% of flared terminal), otherwise sound. **General condition consistent with age

Ashcroft box, a pair of yellow metal oval cufflinks with engraved scrolled decoration set within a Kendal & Dent box and a set of three collar studs set with round agate cabochons. All boxed with original tooled leatherette boxes.

An 18ct yellow gold and diamond solitaire ring, the round brilliant cut stone weighing approx 1.66cts, in claw setting, size R 1/2, approx 6.9g.Additional InformationDiameter of the stone approx 7.65mm, depth approx 4.5mm, no certificate with the stone. A couple of tiny chips to the edges, under the naked eye the stone is drawing slightly yellow, but no major inclusions. Under a loupe there are a few tiny inclusions but no obvious fractures or piques. The claw tips are rubbed in parts, generally OK. Free from fluorescence.
R & W SORLEY; a late Victorian Scottish hallmarked silver and embossed lozenge shaped bowl, with shell fruit and scrolling decoration on four shaped supports, Glasgow 1896, length 16cm, approx 2.71ozt/84.6g.Additional InformationThe decoration is certainly better on this than you see on most, slight misshapen to the rim, clear hallmarks, couple of pin head sized dents and general surface wear throughout.

Heavy general wear to case throughout, with scratches, nicks and tarnish.
