Poster, BR(Sc) D/R 'Dunoon On The Firth Of Clyde'. Late 1950s poster from the brush of Lance Cattermole (1898-1992) showing a lovely view of the sweeping frontage of this lovely Argyllshire Resort depicting the period cars and holidaymakers along the promenade and yachts, boats, ships and steamers filling the harbour and coastline. The poster is in lovely condition with vibrant colours and little or no damage. A collector’s classic indeed.

Poster, LNER D/R Letterpress 'Seat Reservations May Be Made On The Undermentioned Trains' Shows 4 week-day trains including the Yorkshire Pullman and 1 Sunday train. LNER 'winking eye' logo at the top in white with a blue background, text is the reverse of this. Recovered many years ago when the Kings Cross Booking Office moved location. Excellent condition , just a minor edge tear left, upper margin.
London and Brighton Railway Truncheon. Like the London and Birmingham Railway, examples can be found with both the initials of the company and the full title. The first of these are decorated with a crown over script lettering ‘LB’, ‘R’ and a red cartouche with the word ‘Constable’ within. Dicken illustrates an example of this type, which came to him by way of the secretary of London Brighton, and South Coast Railway, thereby confirming these as London and Brighton truncheons rather than London and Birmingham.
Rhondda and Swansea Bay Railway C/I Gate Notice measuring 16 1/3 " x 8 1/2 " in nice unrestored condition it reads, "R.& S. B. R. Y. NOTICE Any Person omitting to close & fasten this gate after passing through is liable to a penalty of FORTY SHILLINGS". A rare sign with only a handful known to survive and only sold once before at auction over 15 years ago.
Nameplate, NOTTINGHAM FOREST with original Brass Football. Ex LNER B17 Class 4-6-0 Locomotive. Built by R. Stephenson & Co in February 1937 under works number 4128 and numbered by the LNER 2866. Renumbered 1666 in February 1946 and finally 61666 by British Railways in May 1948. Allocations include Neasden, Cambridge & March, withdrawal coming in March 1960. The other side was presented to Nottingham Forest Football Club. Face restored, back ex loco and the brass Ball is totally original and undamaged. A painted, wooden splasher accompanies.
Birmingham and Gloucester Railway Truncheon. Fenn Clark illustrates an unusual shaped truncheon 17 1/3 inches in length with a short cylindrical body and long handle. It is decorated with a small crown over ‘V.R.’, ‘B.G.’ and ‘R,’ in gilt lettering with black shading (Fenn Clark page 74, number 4). The B&GR part opened in June 1840 and amalgamated with the Midland Railway in May 1845.

A scarce 16mm. film of the 1911 Grand National, in original canThe 1911 Grand National was won by Mr Frank Bibby's Glenside, trained by Captain R H Collis at Kinlet in Worcestershire and ridden by the amateur rider Jack Anthony. The race was run in torrential rain and desperately heavy ground. Glenside was the only horse to complete without incident. Three other runners were remounted with only four of the twenty six runners completing the course.

Walwyn, Capt. Crump, W. Dutton, J. Grifin and other racing figures (a qty)
The whip dropped by Richard Johnson at the furlong pole aboard Rooster Booster in the 2003 Martell Cognac Aintree Hurdle, the whip inscribed R. JOHNSON; sold together with the yellow & black check cap worn by Johnson in the same race; the lot also including an official printed Martell Grand National fence flag, flown at one of the Grand National fences along the far straight (3) The Champion Hurdle winner was adjudged an unlucky loser in the 2003 Aintree Hurdle, with his rider crucially dropping his whip with a furlong to run after the last flight of hurdles. Rooster Booster has headed in the final strides going down a head to the Irish runner Sacundai. The whip was retrieved by a member of the Aintree ground staff but Richard Johnson refused to be reunited with it and told the member of staff to keep the whip, together with the cap he wore in the race.
