An unusual early Royal Air Force exercise and drawing book, possibly a trainee engineer / mechanics book, the front cover named in ink 'F R Brown, Section C', the front page dated 04/05/18 (5th week of the formation of the RAF) with many pages of notes and drawings on handling aircraft, testing parts of an air craft, wire splicing, bends & hitches, tail planes, and naming some air craft such as a Sopwith Camel, some pages signed off and dated by a 'Geo Green' (1)
Two brass, leather and rabbit fur Scottish sporrans, late 19th / early 20th century, one marked for R & H Kirkwood 25cm CONDITION REPORT: The length from the top of the button of the clasp to the bottom of the sack is 24.5cm and 23.5cm. The width of both from the side button of the hinge to the other is 17.5cm. The one with the makers mark does not want to open, the other opens and closes ok. Both a little grubby with some tarnishing and marks to the metal.
RAF WAR ARTIST: Hand written letter, 6x8 inches dated April 1947, written and signed by Alfred R Thomson, which is affixed to an A4, 8x2 inch sheet of paper with his principal achievements listed. VERY rare signature. Thomson was official artist to the RAF in WW2, taking over from Eric Kennington and he was also the very last person to win an Olympic Gold Medal for painting in 1948.
