Havell (William, 1782-1857). Clifden Spring and Woods, near Maidenhead, 1818, aquatint engraving on paper, by Robert Havell (1769-1832) after William Havell, printed title and imprint to lower margin, few pale spots, mainly to sky area, mount aperture 39.0 x 50.5cm (15 3/8 x 19 7/8ins), framed and glazed (57.2 x 69.0cm), verso with label of The Parker Gallery, London, with pencilled note 'May '83 reframed. Print cleaned', verso also with ink manuscript annotation to lower area, regarding artist, origin of engraving, and suggested provenanceQty: (1)Footnote: Provenance: Ink manuscript annotation on verso: "This picture could have belonged to Ben Maggs [of Maggs Bros.]and have been removed after his widow's home was bombed. Stored in the 40's by F.B. and not in good condition - well restored by Parkers in '83." One of 12 aquatint engravings produced for the book A Series of Picturesque Views of the River Thames. Originally published in 1812 by both Robert and Daniel Havell, by 1818 when the second edition was published by Thomas McLean (from which this item is taken), Daniel had left the family business. Therefore the imprint has had Daniel's initial removed, leaving 'Engraved by R. Havell', with a space between 'R.' and 'Havell'.

A pair of diamond and turquoise coloured drop earrings, each designed as a round brilliant cut diamond weighing approximately 0.10 carats each, suspending tear-shaped turquoise coloured cabochon, all set in 9ct rose gold, post and butterfly pierced ear fittings, each 23mm longCR; Both cabochons are in good order, no chips, fractures or losses. Some scratching and wear commensurate with age and wear. Both diamonds are present and in tact. Some denting, scratching and wear to the gold mounts, but no splitting or signs of repair. The hallmarks to the pierced ear fittings are relatively worn, but the date appears to be 'r' for 2016.Please note: the cabochons have been assessed to be turquoise, however there is indication of stabilization or possible treatment.
