Crazing on the similar vase- although this looks to be intentional. A chip to the rim of one of the vases. One of the Buddhist lion handles has been damaged and is missing the head. Some restoration the rim of one of the vases, with the cracks and glue apparent to the eye, with crude overpainting, the hairline crack into the vase. All would benefit from a clean. Rare History Breaching the Dams Signed 45 Dambusters on the raid Les Munro, G L Johnson S McDonald, R E Grayston Les Munro Dambuster pilot with 617 Sqn. Operation Chastise May 16/17 1943. On the 2nd Wave with Lancaster ED921, 'AJ-W', which sustained heavy flak damage, and with the Wireless and Intercom rendered unserviceable was forced to return back to base Sqn Ldr George 'Johnny' Johnson DFM took part in Operation Chastise as the bomb Aimer on Flt Lt Joe McCarthy's Lancaster ED932 AJ T which attacked the Sorpe Dam. For his part in the Dam Raids he was awarded DFM. Flight Sgt G S ( Grant) McDonald RCAF Rear Gunne on Lancaster AJ-F flown Ken Brown. On Dams Raid 17th May 1943Flying Officer Raymond. E. Grayston. Sgt R Grayston took part in Operation Chastise as a flight Engineer on Les Knights Crew on Lancaster AJ-N which attacked the Eder Dam 16 to 17 May 1943 Dambuster and later on the Dortmund Ems Canal forced to bale out and became a POW and was sent to Stalag Luft 111.
